Bakugou wasn't the type to ever be submissive, let alone show any sort of weakness. What had just happened between himself and the mermaid was...regrettable. He had enjoyed the feeling at first when Deku had pressed his surprisingly soft lips against his, but being pinned down by it was a different story.
It hurt when he was slammed against the rock, obviously. Then the look in Deku's eyes when he loomed over him, stretching his arms so that his hands were submerged in the water...it frightened him. His heart was nearly pounding so loud behind his eardrums that he barely heard Deku when he mentioned his quirk was useless when submerged under water.
How had the creature known that? Katsuki didn't even understand the limitations of his quirk when it came to water. He figured he could just blow everything up and that his quirk would always be effective- as long as he was sweating. He would have to be more careful around Deku if he planned to go back. But did he?
Bakugou growled to himself. "Stop being such a bitch." He carded a hand through his blonde locks, sweat dripping from his forehead as he sat on a rocky ledge that overlooked the ocean. He had been watching Deku from this ledge for quite a while before they had ever spoken to each other.
The blonde sighed as he recalled seeing the mermaid for the first time. The greenette had peeked his head up from the water and was no doubt scanning his surroundings for humans. Bakugou would have thought Deku's hair was a clump of seaweed if he hadn't jumped out of the water and sprawled out on the rock.
He was startled at first because he hadn't seen a mermaid before. He had done research on the subject after seeing Deku and discovered that the enchanting beauty of mermaids was a disguise for their villainous habits. He had read that they ate and tortured humans for pure entertainment. In some cases, they would mate them against their will. Bakugou scoffed at this. Mermaids seemed to be just as treacherous as humans, minus eating them regularly.
He would sit on the ledge nearly every day to watch Deku. The way the sun glinted off his scales as he yawned and stretched was nothing less than mesmerizing. They had hues of red from what Bakugou could tell but as the sun began to set, they returned to their normal sea foam green color. Deku's mop of messy green hair still managed to look silky and damn near flawless. Bakugou would never admit it but just the mere sight of Deku had him in awe.
He had to get closer to it. Bakugou had began to slink silently along the shore, making sure to not make any sudden noises. He didn't intend to speak to the creature but just wanted to see if it would look the same once he got close enough to it. He had hoped the beast was ugly so that he could get it out of his head and move on. He cursed at himself internally for staring at it so long.
When he finally got close enough to look down at the mermaid sunning itself on the rock, he had noticed it was asleep. The gentle rise and fall of it's chest as its head was laying in the crook of its arm suggested that his presence was undetected.
The greenette's tail slowly unwound from around its body and lightly skimmed the water below. It cracked open an eye, looking in the direction of other people frolicking on the beach. Bakugou held his breath, hoping it had only noticed the others instead of himself. Deku had propped himself up on his elbows and seemed to be listening to the humans intently. Bakugou had seen Deku's deep pools of forest green eyes for the first time.
What felt like a volt of electricity shot through his chest and down his spine. His mouth felt dry as if he had swallowed cotton and his palms began to sweat more than normal. Why was he feeling this way? What was this? The mermaid yawned and stretched, arching it's back as it emitted a soft groan. A light sprinkle of pink appeared on Bakugou's cheeks and a yearning between his thighs caught him off guard.
No. No. No. I know what this thing is capable of. It's a monster and it eats people. This is how people get caught up and eaten because the damn thing must be casting some kind of spell on whoever sees it. I feel like a lost puppy stalking this damn thing. I've got to do the right thing for humankind. I have to kill these things...these man eating beasts. I don't want anyone to have to suffer at the hands of one of these freaks. Not while I can do something about it.
His eyes narrowed as he glared down at the beast. The way it looked so curious and innocent pissed him off. A wolf in sheep's clothing. He knew better. He could blast it into smithereens right then and there if he wanted to but to Bakugou, that was a coward's way of doing things. Blasting someone while their back was turned was not his style. He would face this monster head on.
Suddenly the creatures head snapped towards the ocean. Bakugou followed it's gaze only to see that it was staring at a woman swimming frantically. In a flash, the mermaid dove into the water and rocketed towards the woman. Bakugou tensed, not prepared to have to kill the beast already. "God damn it can't you just eat fish like everyone else?!" He sparked explosions in his palms and was about to take off when he saw it.
A spark of green around the mermaid's body before it propelled faster than anything he had ever seen before. It reached the woman then seemed to deviate back towards the ocean...a shark in towe. Bakugou froze. He couldn't believe his eyes. Had this mermaid really saved a human life? His explosions dissipated as the mermaid slowly made it's way back to the rock.
It popped it's seaweed hair out of the water and peeked around the rock. It's fin fanned out behind his head, twitching in agitation almost like a cat would. Bakugou scowled. Why did it have to come off as so innocent and playful. It hopped back onto the rock with a sigh and stretched out it's body once again. It didn't matter. A monster is a monster. It's power alone shows how capable it is. "I saw what you did, monster." He growled. The mermaid's eyes widened and it's head snapped towards Bakugou. "Tch. As if that makes you any less of a monster. Mermaids are killers." He huffed as those deep emerald pools made his knees buckle. He tensed, fighting back as his body betrayed him.
