Midoriya had thought he caught a glimpse of spikey blond hair as he approached the pier. He ducked down quickly, peering around the wood pillars. Butterflies rose in his chest when he spied the grumpy blonde sitting on the beach before him. He was dozens of yards away and couldn't possibly see him but that didn't keep him from ducking down and swimming hurriedly to his rock.
Was he ready? What would he say to him? It had been three days since the mermaid practically threw himself at Bakugou, only to be rejected. He had been too pushy and didn't even acknowledge the blonde's feelings. He probably didn't even like men, let alone mermaids. His head hung in shame, green curls framing his face.
"It's worse than I originally thought then.." He sniffled. "How can I even begin to apologize for what I did.." he slumped with his head in the crook of his arm as he laid on the rock. It's smooth, warm surface practically caused the mermaid to purr. Maybe it was better if the human did stay away from him. He couldn't help himself. Every time he was near Bakugou all he wanted was to make him his.
The slight thudding of feet along the pier caught the mermaid's attention and he froze. When the footsteps neared the end of the pier, he slowly slid his scales along the rock, plunging down into the water. A firm grasp caught his arm and yanked his upper torso out of the water.
"Oi! Where the fuck you think you're going Deku?" A familiar growl sounded from his captor. Slowly, Deku opened his eyes and what he saw made his heart skip a beat. It was the blonde in all his glory. Bright blonde lion's mane of hair that spiked up in every direction seemed to glitter with the sun beaming from above him. At this angle, it was almost as if bakugou had a bright radiant aura around him. His fierce crimson eyes had a hint of gentleness to them, still hinting at the pain he held inside. "You done staring, Deku?" He asked with a smirk.
"I-I what are you doing here?" Deku stammered, eyes lowering to the hand grasping his arm. They both stared at Bakugou's hand for several seconds, both blushing beet red before Bakugou suddenly dropped him in the water. Deku splashed down beside the rock and flexed his tail, propelling him upwards. He rose over Bakugou, drenching him with the water he had scooped up with his fin.
To Deku's surprise, the normally fiery teen hadn't tried to blast him for his cheeky behavior. In fact, a small smile formed at the corner of his lips. Deku rested his upper torso on the rock, staring up at Bakugou in awe. "You can smile?" a resulting growl and middle finger answered Deku's question. "Shut up you idiot." The sassy blonde retorted before sitting down on the rock beside Deku.
They both remained silent for a few moments. It was beginning to become uncomfortable and Deku opened his mouth to break it but Bakugou spoke suddenly. "I..I wanted to ask something." He sighed, looking away from Deku once again. Curiosity flickered in the mermaid's eyes.
"It's about the other day. Why...why did you do it?" He folded his knees to his chest, wrapping his arms around them. He had been staring forward at the ocean, deep in thought. "What do you mean Katsuki?" Deku bit his lip, hoping they could forget about the whole thing.
"Don't play dumb Deku. Don't make me say it." He grumbled, eyebrows narrowing. Deku swallowed and mulled over the whirlwind of emotions in his head. "I..I don't know. It just happened. I'm really sorry." Deku whispered. He was caught off guard by Bakugou's eyes snapping in his direction. "Is that really your answer?" Bakugou seemed upset by his answer and Deku felt panic in his chest. "I-I mean I didn't mean to hurt you its..it's not what I wanted."
"So you were teasing me then." Bakugou whispered into the sleeves of his jacket. He buried his face in his arms. Deku rose fully onto the rock and curled around him. "No. Katsuki. I was but I wasn't." Deku's pulse pounded in his head. He was so nervous. He felt sick. Kaachan would blast him for sure.
"Tell me what the fuck you mean Deku. I'm getting pissed off." His voice was hollow and hoarse. "Do I have to spell it out for you Bakugou? I apologized for what I did but I'm not sorry. Not for that. I'm sorry that it hurt you but I'm not sorry for what I did. The way I feel...it's complicated. It makes me feel sick and happy at the same time. You wouldn't understand. It's best if we don't see each other anymore. I can't speak for the rest of my kind but I will leave this place." With that, he slid off the rock and into the water.
He used his quirk to swim as fast as he could, deeper into the ocean. His eyes burned, leaving him behind like that. He seemed so fragile and delicate in that moment. He knew Bakugou didn't like being vulnerable and weak. That's what he had done to him. He changed him. He didn't want Bakugou to change and be weak. He liked him the way he was. The real Bakugou. Severing whatever bond they had would be for the best.
Once the realization that Deku was leaving him settled in his aching chest, he felt hollow and cold. He had never felt this way about anyone before and in this moment he knew he wouldn't have anything to look forward to. He wouldn't see his mess of seaweed hair bobbing up and down in the waves in his futile attempts to conceal himself. He wouldn't see those deep forest green orbs looking up at him curiously anymore. He wouldn't be able to touch him anymore and if he couldn't touch him...he could never feel his kiss again.
He absentmindedly brushed his fingertips across his lips. Warmth as well as a different feeling bubbled to the surface within his body. It was rage. The explosion that sent him off the rock split it in two. He surged over the deep blue water below, barely catching a glimpse of the sparkling green that would signal Deku had used his quirk to escape him. He dove down after him.
The harsh punch to his back and firm grasp at his tail had surprised him. Nothing had been able to keep up with him when he used his quirk! Before he knew what was happening, he was soaring in the air. It was sunset once again and the light from the reddish orange hues allowed him to barely see his attacker. His eyes widened in shock. "K-Kaachan?! What the hell are you doing?!" he struggled, knocking Bakugou off balance as he flew.
The blonde looked down at Deku, seething in rage and dropped him. Deku knew he would be fine. He would hit the water and use his quirk to be gone faster than he had before. He arched his back to look towards the water only to be met with the sandy beach below. He gasped then curled up his body defensively, bouncing slightly as he landed on the beach with a dull thud.
He heard Bakugou land a few yards away from him and he scrambled to get away. He had to get to the water before Bakugou got to him. "OI! YOU CAN'T RUN FROM ME DEKU!" Bakugou snarled and grasped Deku by the tail, slamming him on his back. They struggled, rolling in the sand. A strength Deku didn't know Bakugou had overwhelmed him and the short scuffle ended with Bakugou straddling him, his weaponized hand on Deku's face.
"NO MORE RUNNING!" Bakugou shouted. "K-Katsuki please!" Deku cried. "I'm sorry! I just..I just.." Deku began to cry. "I'm sorry! I deserve it! I never wanted to hurt you and..and I did! I'm sorry Katsuki!" Deku covered his face in his hands as he sobbed. "I just wanted you to be mine! Whenever I'm around you I feel freaking sick but happy at the same time..I can't explain it..you wouldn't understand! So I ran! I'm sorry!" Deku's hands were roughly ripped away from his face.
Deku's watery green eyes connected with Bakugou's ruby red orbs. His face looked slightly concerned, eyebrows no longer furrowed. "Damn it Deku..." His expression softened. "Fuck you. You basically said you were messing with me. Then you just think you can run the fuck away from me and cut me off. IT PISSES ME OFF!" He grasped Deku's head with both hands, slamming him into the sand before crushing the trembling greenette's lips with his.
Bakugou's kiss was rough and forceful at first, sending sparks to ever part of Deku's body. His tail fanned wildly, rocking Bakugou side to side above him. Bakugou's annoyance shown as his eyebrows furrowed again. He bit Deku's lip to assert his dominance and surprisingly, Deku submitted. A soft moan escaped his lips, parting them slightly and allowing Bakugou entrance.
Bakugou plunged his tongue deep in Deku's mouth. He tasted so sweet. His kiss was like honey and sweeter than the look he always gave the fiery blonde. He couldn't get enough of it and before long he surfaced for air. The two stared at each other, eyes half lidded in ecstasy.
