I sighed as I looked around my now empty apartment, "ma'am is this the last of it"? One of the fine Mexican movers asked me snapping me out of my thoughts. "yes that's it" I said grabbing my purse that laid on the counter next to my phone and keys. I grabbed my belongings and sat the old key on the counter for the owner and walked out. "I'm gonna miss this place" I said as I closed the door. I walked down to my brand new 2019 Benz I treated myself to for my birthday.
"All right ma'am we need you to sign this" the same mover from earlier said, I looked over him he was at least 5'11, he had a small protruding goatee, with hazel brown eyes and he was muscular. The way the sweat rolled off of him had me a little turned on, I could see the little tattoos he had seeping through the sleeves if his shirt. "Ma'am" he said snapping me out my day dream "oh yes sorry, what is this"? I asked him looking at the paper on the clip board in front of me.
"It pretty much says any damage to your property is not on us, and that your belongings will be there by tomorrow afternoon" he said I nodded and signed the paper. "Thank you" he said as he walked off to the others, I opened my car door and hopped inside. "We ready mommy" my daughter Kaydence asked as she rubbed her hands through our white Pomeranian cocoa's hair. "Yeah its time to hit the road" I said she nodded and buckled up. "We gone stop and get something to eat before we leave completely, and we gotta stop by to say bye to gamma".
I sighed thinking of my mother, she died two years ago to lung cancer, I told her to stop smoking but she never listened. I didnt wanna leave her here cause I loved the fact I could go to her grave and talk to her when needed, then I realized she was with me wherever I went and she would want me to be happy. So I am leaving NOLA so me and Kay can have a better life. "I miss her" she sighed as I started the car, "I know polka nose, I do to" I said backing up.
We drove the 4 minutes it took to get the cemetery, and parked "come on" I said cutting the engine, I grabbed my keys and left everything else in the car. "Come on Cocoa" Kay said as she placed her on the floor and put her leash on, we walked to where my mother's head stone was and sighed once I came to her headstone. It read 'Gina Anne Quincy, loving mother and grandmother'. I sat down in front of her and began to speak from the heart about how I was feeling at that very moment.

After sitting there for 20 minutes talking to my mother, we got up to leave. "Come on baby" I said ready to hit the road. We got into the car, "what you wanna eat before I start the car so I can get directions. "Ohh Roberto's" she said licking her lips in satisfaction, "okay Roberto's it is" I said laughing starting the engine after giving her the instructions to find the nearest one. I pulled up to the drive thru, "what you want"? I asked her "a carne asada burrito with a strawberry lemonade" she said as she scrolled through Instagram.
"Hello welcome to Robertos my name is Kimberly, may I take your order". The lady on the other side asked "yes can I get one Carne Asada Burrito with everything, and a large strawberry lemonade". I said "anything else"? She asked me "yes, can I get carne asada fries with everything and a large strawberry lemonade as well" I said as I fumbled through my purse to find my wallet. "Okay that will be 33.98 at the second window. I pulled up to the second window "33.98" she said, I handed her a 40, "6.02 is your change".
She placed my change and receipt in my hand, "your food will be out in a few" I nodded my head, "you ready for the new move"? I asked Kaydence she smiled "a little" she stated as she placed her Iphone 6s on her lap. "Mom" she said as she pointed to the lady holding the food out the window. "any sauces"? I grabbed the bag, "yes the green and red, also pico de gio". She nodded and grabbed all the sauce I asked for and placed them in a small plastic bag. "Have a good day" she said "you too" I pulled off.
I drove to the freeway entrance and jumped on the express way, "Driving to cali with my lovely Mommy" Kaydence said doing Snapchat video. "girl you a trip" I said laughing, "I love you mom" she said "I love you too, polka nose". A new life, fresh start. Let's make the best of it.
