Confounding Emotions…

Aditya was confused to say the least. He was having difficulty digesting the fact that his best friend didn’t came to help Ragini. He knew Sanskar have been the aloof type always maintaining a safe distance from others but he was never that cruel.

‘Maybe he is hiding something from me.’

His heart urged him to sort out the confusion.

“I should talk to him.” Aditya whispered to his own self, determined.

While no one said it out loud one single question was plaguing everyone’s mind, ‘Is Sanskar really that insensitive?’

While everyone was occupied mulling over the same thing, the man in question was busy finalising the legal statements for City Z project. It was a time consuming process and when the Executive team marched out of his cabin at last, Sanskar finally sighed in relief.

A burning sensation shot through his back. He felt like several needles dipped with alcohol have been pierced on his back and he winced in pain, trying to suppress the ache as he tried to adjust himself in the chair.

But all the traces of pain went away as soon as someone knocked on the door. Once again he was back to being is reserved self.

“Come in”

“This is the final statement for the project Sir and we need you to sign this file before proceeding further.” Mr. Khanna, Sanskar’s manager-cum-his right-hand man informed before handing a red color file to Sanskar.

Sanskar nodded in understanding before going through the papers and signing it.

“Do one thing. Tell the Creative head to mail me the design for this project tomorrow 10 am  sharp.”

“Will do Sir.”

When he saw that Mr. Khanna still have not left Sanskar raised a brow in question.

“Any problem Khanna?” He inquired.

“Nothing Sir.” Mr. Khanna quickly left the place but not before placing something on the table.

Sanskar quietly gazed after Mr. Khanna for a minute before picking up two painkillers from his table.

A certain emotion flashed in his eyes for a second before they became clear once again hiding his thoughts and feelings from the world.

“And here I thought I am a Casanova. But seems you like clubbing more than me huh?”

“Shut up Sanskar.” Aditya huffed angrily. Here he is going crazy thing about the incident and Sanskar is acting like he has nothing to worry about.

“Did you really refused to help Ragini ?” Aditya came straight to the point. No point in beating around the bush.

The two best friends were sitting in front of each other in trilogy club.

“Yes” Sanskar’s one word cause anger to shoot through Aditya but he still tried to think rationally.

"Really?"

"Yes." Sanskar answered once again.

“You know Sanskar we have been with each other since childhood. I know you aren’t the happy-go-lucky kind of guy but being your best friend I also know that you can’t be that cold hearted. So tell me buddy is there anything you are hiding from me? I’m noticing since last couple of months you seems to be in your own world. Are you in any problem? You can tell me.” Aditya urged him to say something.

“Actually Adi I-I”

“What the hell!!!!” Before Sanskar could say anything someone accidentally spilled his drink on Aditya.

“I’m-I’m so sorry Sir. I stumbled and accidentally spilled my drink on you.”

Aditya was ready to curse the offender but seeing a barely legal teen shivering in fear he sighed before nodding reluctantly .

“It’s fine.”

“Once again sorry Sir.” The guy walked away and Aditya excused himself to washroom.

Just as his best friend headed out Sanskar’s phone beeped indicating a message.
.

.
“You were saying something earlier right?” Aditya asked after returning.

“What do you want to know?”

“The truth.” Aditya stated firmly.

“Dad asked me to help Ms Thakur, I had meeting for the City Z project so I refused that’s it.”

“I don’t believe it.”

“That’s up to you.” Sanskar replied firmly.

“Then what were you doing in the hospital? What business can a CEO have at there of all places?”

“You still don’t believe me do you?”

“No” Aditya answered honestly.

“Fine then. One second.”

Sanskar dialled a no. and handed it over to Aditya.

"Alok Tripathi, City hospital’s proprietor, I went there to meet him because I wanted to invest in the hospital."

“Yes Mr. Malhotra, Mr Maheshwari was there to meet me.” Alok Tripathi clarified and Aditya didn’t ask anything further opting to remain silent.

“Happy now?” Asked Sanskar.

“Look Adi, just because I’m good to you does not necessarily mean that I’m a good man. I  am not. And I accept that. It would be better if you accept that too. Think yourself, if I can agree to marry with Shikha just to get the business empire do you really think I would neglect my dream project just to save that girl?”

When Aditya didn’t say anything in response, Sanskar sighed and walked out after telling him to take care.

Just when Abhijeet Maheswari entered home he got a call from his bank stating that his wife withdrew 10 lakhs from their joint account.

“You withdrew 10 lakhs. Everything fine Sakshi?”

“Ohho relax Jii. You remember my friend Sarita. Actually her daughter is getting married soon and she needed the money so I decided to help her in fact I’m just heading out to give the cash to her. You don’t have any issue with it right?” Sakshi,  his lovely wife enquired.

“Why would I? Go ahead but come back soon okay and take care.”

Sakshi nodded and Abhijeet walked up-to his room to freshen up but the ring of a phone stopped him.

“God, What do so with this silly wife of mine. Always forgetting her phone.”

Abhijeet looked at the caller ID which was flashing ‘Sarita’ on the screen.

“Hello Mrs Sarita. Actually Sakshi forgot her phone here only.”

“Okay then. Tell her to call me when she gets back.”

“Will do. By the way Congrats for you daughter’s wedding.”

“What? But we are not even thinking of getting her married till the next year.”

“What? Oh I’m sorry. Must be a misunderstanding then.”

“No problem.”

The line was cut off but Abhijeet was too shocked to notice.

‘Why Sakshi lied to me?’
