“Pepper, can we please sit down? We’ve been shopping for 3 hours!” Mia stated. Pepper turned to see how her friends were holding up. They both looked exhausted.

Pepper laughed. “How is it that I managed to tire out two fearless assassins in just one afternoon?” Mia and Natasha gave weary smiles. The three women went to a nearby café and had a quick drink to replenish themselves.

“Thanks, Pep. I needed this,” Mia said as she drank her iced tea.

“No problem! Now we still have to find a dress for you Mia, and then get shoes. And I made hair appointments for all of us as well as nails,” Pepper rambled on her itinerary for the day.

“Sure. Whatever you feel like, Pepper,” Natasha agreed.

“Okay, Mia, there are several stores I think we should hit to find you a dress!”

They paid for their drinks then set off in search of more stores to visit.

It was almost one in the afternoon now with still no luck for Mia. The three women were searching their final store before going off to the salon.

“I don’t know, Pep. You and Tasha had such amazing luck finding something for yourselves. I’m just not finding…” Mia trailed off as her hands touched something delicate. She pulled the dress off of the rack and gave a small gasp. “This is it,” she whispered to herself. “Hey! I found it!” The other two women came over to where Mia was holding up the dress.

“Oh, Mia! It’s stunning!” Pepper squealed.

“I bet you’ll look killer in it,” Natasha said.

“I’m sure a certain Captain might find you attractive,” Pepper said suggestively looking at Natasha.

Mia shoved them both playfully and she bought the dress. After manicures, pedicures, and having their hair done up, the girls were getting into their dresses. Mia stood in front of her floor to ceiling mirror staring at her reflection. Even she thought she looked pretty.

“Knock, knock,” someone said softly outside Mia’s door.

“Come on in,” she replied.

Natasha entered Mia’s room wearing a short, deep red dress the color of wine. It had halter top style straps and ended mid thigh. It was form fitted and Natasha finished the look with black high heels.

“Wow you look great!” Mia exclaimed.

“You do, too! Here let me help with that,” Natasha said coming to where Mia was standing. She tied off the back of her dress so it was secure. The two women looked at each other in the mirror as they stood side by side. A year ago, the two assassins would have only given each other a brief acknowledgement, but now they could both confidently say they were friends.

“Oh my god! You two look awesome!” Pepper gushed coming in the room.

“Thanks!” Mia beamed at the strawberry blonde. Pepper was wearing a light blush pink dress that came down to her ankles. It complimented her hair and skin perfectly. The dress was not as tight as Natasha’s but rather it gently draped over her body. The three women linked arms and strode out of the room. It was slightly drizzling outside so they grabbed their coats and met the men in the lobby.

Mia’s coat was long so it covered her enough so that the dress was not visible.

“Ready?” Steve asked Mia offering out his arm. She happily took it and they all walked out the awaiting car together.

“It’s okay Mia,” Pepper said as they checked in their coats. “After Tasha and I walk down the stairs you can come out and join us.”
