Kallie's POV:
I sigh as I drop down on the couch next to Zach who is channel surfing. He looks up at me with a questioning look, "What?" I ask giving him a weird look.
"What's wrong?"
"Oh, nothing.."
"Come on, just tell me." He replies just as Unity and Seth come into the living room. I don't bother to look up but instead I grab the remote from Zach's hand and put on Paranormal Activity but it was already half way through. Trying to catch up on the movie, I get interrupted by Unity.
"I though you hated horror movies.." She says, an eye brow raised at the T.V. screen instead of me. I look over at her with a glare.
"Well maybe I felt like watching a horror movie today." I growl back.
"It's feel not felt, you know present tense and all that shit." She corrected me offhandedly. She dropped down onto the couch cushion next to me carelessly but the immediately raised her hands in surrender when she saw me glare at her. "What's wrong?" She asks me. I glare again at her and turn back to the T.V. Just then dad walks into the room with his arms crossed over his chest.
"Ladies."
"Yeah?" Unity and I both reply.
"Lets go."
"Yes father." I roll my eyes and shut off the T.V. Dad glares at me and walks out of the room to the front door followed along by Seth and Unity. Zach looks over at me with a small smile.
"Hey, Uh do you have a cell phone?" He asks his tone hopeful.
"Of course I do." I smile, "You want my number?" He nods. I give him my number as he types it into his phone.
"I'll just text you now to tell you who it is." He says texting. I nod and wait for him to finish. He looks up with a huge smile on his face once he's done. He leans towards me and kisses me one last time. But the kiss is cut short as dad yells for me to come. I pull away, stand up and walk towards the door followed by Zach. I slip on my shoes.
"See you 'round." I say awkwardly as I get pulled out the door by my dad. Zach and Seth wave goodbye and shut the door, "Shot gun!" I scream running towards the passenger side. Once we get in dad turns to the both of us.
"There's no sleeping on the job." He hisses.
"Maybe we wouldn't have if you let us actually sleep at all, not to mention how damn tired I am from the beatings you've been giving us." Unity scowls as she slumps in her seat behind me, I wince at her words knowing dad wouldn't take them lightly. Like he ever does in the first place.
"Watch it girl." He warned, "And you too Kallie."
"Sorry." Unity says behind me, sarcasm dripping from response. I scratch the back of my head in the awkward silence and look out the window. After a few minutes I can't stand the silence anymore so I turn on the radio to 99.9 and turn up the volume to sing along to The Motto by Drake. Dad switches the station back to the old classical crap he likes to listen to. I scowl at the radio and switch it back to my station. After a couple times of going back and forth from station to station he pulls the car over on the side of the road and looks at me with anger. I pull my hand away from the radio but he grabs my wrist. I try to pull away but his grasp gets tighter. I look up at him with wide eyes and I know that Unity is watching us.
"Let go of me." I warn.
"Or what? You can't do shit. Your too weak. Too pathetic." He replies. I bit my lip knowing I couldn't take another beating because the doctor was already getting suspicious with the fact that I have bruised ribs. He lets go and starts driving again.
