I'm gonna tell you guys how maleficent turns into a human. You know that she had a second staff, she uses the second stuff to make her human again. And if it's a little confusing, her first staff is in the museum and all the magic in the first staff is gone. That's why she uses the second staff. And Ben caught Carlos when he(Carlos) saw Jane entering the Ilse. He rushed there while everyone is busy talking. Ben saw him and open the barrier and took him. What Ben's plan is, he wants to rule beside maleficent since she made a deal to Ben if she's the queen, she will kill all the VKs. But maleficent real plan is to rule Auradon and made everyone her servent including Ben. Why use a syringe? Because the second scepter is not in Auradon anymore. Why a poison apple potion? She knows Jane won't be able to enter Auradon and Carlos obviously loves Jane, so... The spell will never be broken. So, Maleficent can threaten them (example, if Mal want to defeat maleficent she can say if Mal get close to her, she'll kill Carlos)
