Chapter One

As Joyce steps though her door holding her baby boy after being gone in the hospital for 3 days she gets a sense of relief that she's finally home. as Joyce sits on her bed she winces in pain "you weren't there, you weren't there to see the birth of your son. Why? I could of really used your help." She looks down and fidgets with her wedding ring "Oh, I don't know. I mean...I had to watch Jonathan." He looks at Joyce "You know, Jonathan could of been in there, or even in the waiting room. if not, you could of came and saw me while I was in the hospital for 3 days. You didn't come once"
"Jesus Christ Joyce, just forget about it, it's over, damn, you have a one track mind." Joyce looks up at Lonnie "okay, sorry" she looks down "yeah, you should be sorry." He scoffed
-that night-
Joyce managed to pull herself out of the bed and go to the kitchen for some water once she gets in the kitchen Lonnie is there drinking a bottle of beer, per usual.
Joyce gets the water and accidentally dropped it on the ground
Lonnie looks at Joyce and it's pretty obvious he's drunk
"Joyce! What the hell?! I just cleaned the floor!" Joyce's body fills up with fear "I-I'm Sorry...it was an accident." Lonnie makes his way to Joyce cornering her into the wall of the kitchen, he grabs Joyce by the hands "Lonnie let go of me...please." As she talks Lonnie grips her wrists harder "let go of me..." but he doesn't let go as he slowly moves Joyce around from out in front of the wall he squeezes her wrists harder "I said let go of my wrists!"Joyce jerks her wrists out of the grip of Lonnie and falls. Then Will starts to cry
Joyce pulls her self up by holding onto the counter then rushes to Will and picks him up "hey sweetheart, it's okay...momma is here now." She rocks Will and sits back on the bed "and I promise, you won't have to grow up with him as your father, we'll figure something else out, I just...I don't know what yet..." Jonathan gets out of bed and goes into the room where Joyce is "hey buddy, can't sleep?" Jonathan nods his head "get up here" Joyce smiled
Jonathan gets up onto the bed and sits next to Joyce
Joyce used one hand to hold Will and then puts her other arm around Jonathan and pulled him close "you boys mean everything to me. And don't worry, like I told your brother Jonathan, you won't have to grow up with him in the house. I'll figure something out..." "promise...?" Jonathan replied with a frown "I promise." Joyce kissed the top of Jonathan's head "why don't you go lay back down. And get some sleep." Joyce said to Jonathan "okay." Jonathan gets out of Joyce's bed and goes back to his room and lays back down. As she's seeing Jonathan walk out she looks down at her wrists to see fresh bruises starting to appear from when Lonnie was holding onto her she lays Will back in the bed and lays down in the bed and falls asleep as Lonnie passes out from drinking on the couch.
