Hopper knocks on Joyce's door
Joyce answers it "Hey Hop." She smiles at the sight of him "Hey," Hopper smiles back "ready?" Asked Hopper "yeah" Joyce said
They arrive at the restaurant and start talking "Joyce, I have a question. You don't have to answer to if you don't what to but, if Lonnie was that abusive why'd you date or even more Marry him in the first place?" Joyce looks at Hopper as her face goes blank "well, i- he...was nice at first, we knew each other in high school, and I considered him a friend, so, we got married and he was still nice, then after Jonathan was born it all went downhill...I wanted to get out of that relationship, but I was scared...I was scared of the outcome," Joyce pauses for a second then continues "so...I ended up having Will with him, and he left me when Will was 6 months old..." Hopper nods slightly "I see..." "but, he gave me my boys, I couldn't imagine my life without them, and at least I wasn't lonely when he left me. So I have one reason to thank him." Yeah." Hopper looked into her eyes nearly speechless
"this is why I'm so scared that he will win the custody battle" Joyce continued "I'm scared that he...will take them from me and i'll never see them again." Hopper takes her hands "Joyce, I promise you, I won't let that happen. I will do everything I can to make sure that doesn't happen." Joyce nods and wipes her eyes with the horrible thoughts still going though her head I can't believe this is happening to me...above all people, why me? She asked herself.
The night was over shortly and they make there way out to the car
The day of the trial came, Joyce tense, not knowing what to do, what to say. She knew one thing, she'd be completely honest with her answers to the judge. She will do everything it takes to get her boys into her custody, she says to herself your there mother, you got this.
