You've barely been on the ground for three days, and already you can feel the other kids getting more and more out of control. The supplies from the ship are beginning to run low, and given that you were all raised on a giant piece of metal in space, where food was brought to you, you have no idea how to hunt.
On the Ark, you were in the I.T. station. Your job was to make sure the software and hardware of the Ark's systems stayed running, create relational databases with information from each resident of the Ark, and sometimes, create new software from scratch. But down here on the ground, your skills were all but useless.
"Whatever the hell we want! Whatever the hell we want!"
You were ripped from your thoughts as your head swung wildy to the direction of the chanting. As you searched the landing site, you saw a large group of kids throwing their fists in the air and chanting around a fire the size of a person. They were lined up infront of one taller, dark haired boy. Your eyes squinted as you tried to see who it was. As you studied the boy from afar, you noticed he was using a piece of scrap metal to rip off the bracelets of each kid - the bracelets that let the Ark know you're alive, and the ground is inhabitable."No, stop! Please!" You screamed as you hurried to your feet and ran to the group. Some of the kids turned their heads and glared. "Look who it is, Princess. Care to join us?" A raspy voice spoke from behind you. As you spun around, you were met with the freckle-ridden face of a boy, his dark hair messy and his brown eyes locked on yours. Bellamy Blake. The stud of the Ark. You could never understand why all the girls wanted him. He only ever used them.
"What do you think you're doing?! These bracelets are the only way the Ark knows we're still alive, and if they think we're dead, they won't follow us to the ground!" You screamed, desperation present in your voice. There was a resonating chuckle from the group now standing with Bellamy, as he glanced away and back again, his signature smirk making its way across his face. He made a little gesture with his arm, one which you weren't sure what it meant. That is, until two of his new followers grabbed your wrists, and another began to pry off your bracelet. "That's the idea" Bellamy said bluntly, and the metal bracelet clunked to the ground. Bellamy turned to face his followers, silent for a second. He punched the air above him and screamed "Whatever the hell we want!". The entire group went nuts. Bracelets were being tossed into the fire, the chants were getting louder. You felt a stinging in your eyes. Maybe it was the fire smoke, maybe you were fearing for your mother, who was monitoring the bracelets back on the Ark.
As a tear rolled down your reddened cheek, you glared at the freckled boy. He was going to get everyone killed, and you needed to find a way to stop him.
