Well it's coming along pretty well from my end. I have the entire story mapped out and am spending a lot of time just developing it. It's taking a while to get to the good parts, but they are coming. Please review with any insight, comments, or suggestions. Chapter three should be up very soon. I promise it will be longer, just needed a couple of short ones to develope the story. I'm hoping it will be up by tomorrow actually since this weekend I have a lot of time on my hands. Hope you enjoy.
I arrived at school a little early the next day. I wasn't sure why, but I had hoped Jonathan would be around to help me out with a few notes from our English class. I walked to my locker, half in a daze from lack of proper sleep. The night had been cruel to me. Rain water pelted at my window while the sky roared with thunder loud enough to shake the house on its foundation. It wasn't until two in the morning that I was finally able to nod off. I was almost certain the deep purple bruises under my eyes made me look like a ghost.
When I reached my locker, I plucked out the laptop and shoved in my backpack as Jonathan had done the day before. During the first half of school yesterday, I found that all work was done on the computer. There was no need for pencils, pens, paper, or notebooks. The teachers emailed assignments and expected it returned the same way. It was something I had to get used to.
I looked around the hallway, half expecting him to come walking up to me at any moment. He wasn't there. The only people I saw was a couple of girls, one I had seen in my English class the day before, making their way intently toward me. The shorter one, standing at about five foot three made sure to remain a good step behind the first. It was clear she was the least popular of the two. As if she had never been out in the sun, her skin was a milky white. She had a more youthful appearance with her slightly chubby features and her long brown hair that she wore in a single ponytail. The other girl was completely breathtaking. Her hair, which she wore down in long red curls, ran halfway down her back. She had a models figure combined with the same golden tan I had noticed on Jonathan the day before. She was the first to approach me with her friend standing close behind.
"Are you looking for someone?" she asks and I wasn't sure but I believed I could hear a jealous edge to her voice.
I shook my head. "Just a friend."
She tossed her red curls from her face and gave me a fake smile before introducing herself. "My name is Jenny." She then turned to her friend. "This here is Jen."
Jen gave a weak smile, clearly uncomfortable with meeting new people. "Nice to meet you." She says, her voice as weak as her smile.
"I am..."
Jenny cut me off. "I know who are. Natalie right? You're in my English and Creative Writing class. I saw you yesterday."
"Okay..." was all I could muster up.
"So you know Jonathan?" She asked with the same jealous tone I heard earlier. This time there was also a possessive edge.
I looked down to avoid her eyes which were glaring intently at me. "I just met him yesterday. He was helping me..."
"Oh, it seemed like you two knew each other. He usually keeps to himself and never really talks to anyone but his little clan of followers. I'm surprised he even gave you the time of day." She said this as if it disgusted her.
"Is he your..." I began but was again cut off before I could finish.
"Nope." Her lips made a popping sound on the P. "I mean, I asked him out once and he looked at me like I was some kinda freak. He never hangs around any of the girls here. I was starting to think he was gay until I saw him with you."
I looked up at her to see a look of hatred flit across her eyes before she gained control and smiled. It became clear to me that she resented the fact that someone like me would've easily caught his attention when she couldn't. Getting bored with the conversation, I said my goodbyes and began to make my way to English.
