As dubious as it sounds, I feel reinvigorated ever since I woke up.

It feels amazing to wake up and see the perfectly aligned houses from my window as I look through it, it's nice to see this cloudy morning once more.

I have been waking up to the gleaming sun of Australia for a few years now.

My dad went there to close off a deal but it took him longer than he expected so we ended up moving there and what was meant to be a temporary thing ended up taking three years.

I missed home, I'm glad to be back, and one of the advantages of being back is the fact that I don't have to see his face anymore.

"Rose, I already told you not to ignore me when I am talking to you." My stepmother snaps her fingers in front of me, making me look in her direction only to nod with dull eyes.  "Well, as I was saying, your classes start in a couple of minutes you should get going and please behave yourself, we don't want a little rebel here, do we?" She mumbled with the widest smile she's able to pull and I restrain myself not to roll my eyes at her words.

"We don't, Ella." And with that, I picked up my backpack, my phone, my keys and I was out. Finally, fresh air. Lucky me that I don't have to walk that much since the University is nearby.

Wait.. why is that there is no student- Oh crap. The classes.

The next thing I know is that I'm running, pretty fast if you ask me, it's ten past eight-thirty.

As I got to the classroom, I quickly took a seat in the front row, as I would usually do, and couldn't help but let out a heavy breath as I began to place my notebook on my desk.

I'm too focused on trying to find my favorite gel pen, that I barely notice the hard steps against the floor that stopped right in front of me.

"Good morning, students." A husky voice echoed in the room, I politely replied with the same greetings along with my classmates, in a well-prepared chorus. "You can address me as Mr.Hood, I'm going to be your English teacher for the time being."

Everything seemed blur when I heard his voice, what the hell is he doing here? I thought he was in Australia, but he's here, in Manchester? Fuck.

I kept my head down, my chest filled with the single hope that for a split second, the universe had decided to be on my side, and made it possible for me to be unperceived, but something tells me that's not going to happen.

(...)

"Dakota Cassidy?"

"Here."

"Donovan Spencer?"

"Present, sir."

It's almost there.

(...)

"Rose Scott?"

Completely dead silence, I didn't want to look at him, I didn't want to see his fierce brown eyes, which I used to look at so fondly.

The whole class is silent, but for some reason, I am able to hear it, all the laughter from months ago, I can picture myself in that room again, I can see how his lips mutter a clear "I'm sorry.", then my eyes are laid on his back, facing me as he turns to leave through the crowd that keeps beaming.

This is one of the reasons why I wanted to come home so badly, Calum, is one of the reasons why.

"She's here." I heard someone say behind me, it was a guy, I could tell, but I don't remember hearing this voice before.

"Thank you, David, but I believe this young lady has a voice, and for the next time, you shouldn't speak on her behalf." Calum's voice sounded harsh, a tone I was never able to get used to, and I didn't like it, just like a double-sided knife, ready to make me ache.

This is going to be... a long day.
