This is a loooooong read, so my apologies in advance. I just really wanted them to talk about everything. This is my take on what Can and Sanem's conversation on the boat would have been in episode 44, and it would take place right after they drink tea together. Also, even though they didn't kiss in this episode, I wrote it in because I really wanted them to.

Hope you enjoy, and thanks in advance for reading! Please don't forget to vote and/or leave comments and feedback!

Can sat across from Sanem at the little table on his boat, about to drink his first cup of tea in over a year. He took a careful sip of the hot brew and closed his eyes to savor the familiar taste. It brought back a feeling of comfort and peace. When he opened his eyes, he saw that Sanem was looking at him with a little bemused smile, before she, too, took a sip of her tea.

"I've missed this so much," Can said, holding out his teacup, but meaning much more than the tea.

"Me, too," answered Sanem, saying the words in a way that made it clear she understood exactly what he meant and that she felt the same way.

Both sat in comfortable silence while drinking tea. Can recalled the many times Sanem came to his office at the agency to offer him tea, and sometimes would drink it with him as well. She always had the magical hands when it came to making tea. She knew exactly how to make it the way that he loved, and after tasting her brew, he could never drink anyone else's tea because he found them lacking. That was partly why he hadn't drank tea all this time. As for the other part, well.....

As if reading his thoughts, Sanem spoke up. "Can?" she asked, and he lifted up his head to look at her. She was studying his face. "Why did you stop drinking tea?"

Can put down his cup slowly, debating about whether he should tell her the truth or come up with an excuse. He decided being honest with her would be best. Communication was never their strong suit, and it was time they fixed that. He cleared his throat, and then looked at her in the eyes. "Because it reminded me of you. And it hurt too much. Drinking tea together was a part of us, a part of our bond. I couldn't bear to drink it without you there with me." He blinked back his tears and saw the sadness in Sanem's eyes. "What about you? Why did you stop?"

He watched as Sanem took a deep breath and her face fill up with emotions. She sighed. "Because making you tea made me happy, because I knew it brought you pleasure. And drinking tea with you made ME happy. And I...." Her voice catches. "I didn't want to be reminded of happiness when you weren't there beside me." Her last sentence was spoken almost in a whisper and Can felt his heart break at the vulnerability of her confession. He reached for her hand, but before he could take it, she tucked it under the table, out of his reach. Can couldn't stand the guilt eating away at his conscience and Sanem refusing to look at him, so he got up from the table and leaned against the railing of the boat. He looked out to sea, lost in a whirlwind of thoughts, and it was a few minutes before he spoke up again.
