The rays of the sun gleam through the window on my left. As the beams of light hit my face, the waves penetrate through the surface of my eyelids to the iris of my eyes. Alerting them to open, signaling my brain to awaken from a serenity. I open them up and let out a deep sigh of relief, taking a minute to realise that it is no longer night. I tilt my head to a side, letting my face bask in the sun's heat. "It is finally morning! Today is the day I can go home!" I tell myself, yawning as I rouse with a huge smile on my face.
Until I hear a knock on my room door, a voice emerges almost immediately after.
"Morning! How are you feeling??" Leesha asks, as she continues inside holding a tray full of breakfast for me."Hi! Er..morning!" I say, becoming amazed by her body once again. Her breasts and hips in alignment at equal proportions with her waist, seeming what was 10 inches smaller.
"Did you sleep well? How are you feeling?" she asks me inquisitively.
"Yes, I slept well...thank...you". I respond back to her whilst changing my posture, straightening my back and sitting down as she moves closer to me.
She reciprocates with me a smile, whilst placing the tray containing the plate of food and glass of juice, on the table beside me. She places her arms together.
"I'm glad you're feeling better Ciarra! I've been told that once you've eaten, you can get ready to be dismissed and sign out at the reception. Yay!".I try to contain my excitement but somehow manage to let out a slight chuckle. "Ahaha thank you Leesha, that's awesome!" I tell her as she now leaves my room happy that my health was restoring, I felt healed.
So far, I've had enough of being trapped and held captive in this place; resting seemed to go on forever. It seemed quite strange that I had been in hospital for five whole days, yet no one from my family not even my husband called to check what happened to me to see if I was okay. Perhaps they were still in search for me or I was taken to a different hospital and, and I... I don't know. I try to take my mind off of them.
I freshen up and dress myself into some clean clothes sat on the sofa, someone must have anonymously provided me with. I enter the bathroom and look into the circular mirror set against the shelf above the sink, oh how austere and simple it looked. I tell myself for the umpteenth time as I review my reflection in the mirror, "I really must lose some weight". I finish getting dressed and then begin to quickly eat up the food Leesha kindly brought up for me. I stare so blankly at the white wall in front of me, lost in streams of thoughts as I chew the remaining pieces of my food.
I take the tray outside of the room into the ward outlet where the rest of the empty plates and trays were laying, grabbing a bottle of water on the way. I make my way out but thanking the nurses before I left, for attending to me, especially Leesha. I was so rude to her for no reason. I mean, she was only trying to take care of me and make me feel better. I thank her and give her a hug. "Heyy Leesha..." I say, unsure of how to put my words as my mind goes completely blank from touching her body and feeling so good in doing so.
"Hi Ciarra, is everything okay?" she asks worriedly.
"Y-yeah" I respond. "I just wanted to say thanks for everything, you've been great, and I really appreciate you taking care of me. I'm so sorry for the way I treated y--"
She interrupts and scolds me, "Ay girl it's fine don't worry about it, I'm just glad that you're feeling all better!"I take myself to give her a warm hug, smiling and showing my gratitude to the rest of the medical staff who helped in my care.
Whilst making my way out I stop in hesitation and stand by the door leading to the hallway. I look back over my shoulder to see everyone in the ward look so dull and gloomy, with the machines being heard beeping, as people are in life support.
