Water Works!!

Jamey and I have been working tirelessly for our play. I'm pretty sure the actors are starting to get kind of annoyed because Jamey and I are always making them repeat their lines no matter how many times they tell us they got them. What can I say, we are perfectionists. We want everything to be brilliant that night.

I know most people wonder why I'm not on stage since that was my initial intention. But after working with Jamey I realised I actually enjoy being behind the scenes more than being the centre of attention
Jamey had suggested making a role for me since I always wanted to act but I turned him down. I love what we do now and I wouldn't change it for the world, besides I'm about to pop any moment now.

There is only a day left to the show and I'm at the theater helping Lucy rehearse her lines again.
"Again Lucy, I need something more, more emotion, more feeling", I say to her.
"Mandy, we have been going through these lines the whole day and it's 4pm already. Haven't you heard that too much of anything is bad for you?" she comes and sits next to me.
"Mandy we got this, you and Jamey have been working really hard for this show, and we will not let you guys down, trust us. Besides you need to go home you know, your doctor told you to take it easy."

"Okay fine, I will go, help me up."
She laughs at me as she helps me from the chair Jamey specifically bought for me when I couldn't fit in the theater chairs.

I realize I am tired when I open the door to my apartment with Emily. I'm planning to move out in a week from now.
I have just been waiting on Jamey to finish the  rooms I assigned to him, he promised me the rooms will be ready soon and I can't wait honestly to see what he came up with.

I want to give Emily and Pete the privacy they need, I have overstayed at this point. They are my two closest friends but it's time I get out of their space.
When I arrive at the house,  I decide to get a quick shower before I take a nap, it was a pretty hot and stressful day and I know a hot shower will do the trick.

I hear the alarm sound and when I open my eyes, I realize it's morning already.
Wow, I don't remember the last time I slept this long, I guess I was more tired than I thought.
Just as I'm getting out of the bed I get a call and it's from Jamey.
"hey Mama, I hope you are up because I am coming to pick you up today, I will be there in 30."
"Soo would you mind...."
"Already bought them m'lady, just take a shower and wait for your night and shining handsome prince"
"And who might that be Jay?"
"Should I bring the pancakes or not Miss smart mouth?"
"Of course bring the pancakes, if you get here and you don't have them, I will skin you alive , Mr night and shining prince"

After showering, I put on a loose dress and pumps, I decide on a high messy bun since we are going down to the theater to make sure everything is ready for the show which starts at 6pm.

I head down stairs and make an expresso for Jamey, I mean he bought the machine himself after he claimed we needed it since he is here almost everyday.
I warm up some milk for myself while waiting for Jamey.

"Open the door for your highness!", he shouts outside the door.
I roll my eyes and make my way to the door.
I open the door and he walks in and heads to the kitchen.
"You are such a darling babe, thanks for the expresso, and as promised here are the pancakes," he says this as he hands me the paper bag.

"Okay you can eat in the car, we have a million things to do, we got to make sure the lights are up and make sure we reserve a bunch of chairs for the VIPs. Oh, I bought you a beautiful black dress and red pumps, that's what you will be wearing later on for my play, you got to look the part bunny,"

Jay comes and and stands in front of me and he kisses my forehead," I am happy you are in my life Mands"
I can't help but hug him
"I feel the same way Jay, you are like a brother to me, I don't know where I would be if it wasn't for you"
"Okay don't start with the "water Works" now hun, you belly is poking me also, so let's get going"

While on the way I get a call from my dad.
"Good morning daddy,"I say
"Good morning my princess, how are you doing today? I'm calling to try convince you yet again to come home after the show so we can support you and help you better with the babies. I want my grandchildren to have the beat care ever and now we have Betty  so it's not just me and your brother's anymore."
"Dad, we talked about this, I already bought a house here and you can visit anytime and see your grandkids you know. "
"I know princess, but it's different when I know they will in my presence every single day."

We talk for a few more minutes before I have to end the call since we arrived at theatre. I promised to do a video call later with him and Betty so they see how big the belly has gotten.

My relationship with my dad has gotten so better and that's all thanks to Betty.
She is the best person for my dad truthfully.
She came to visit me last month and we even went baby shopping and it felt like my mom sent her to us.
She was the glue that was missing for the past years.

We arrive at the theater and everything is ready, all we have to do is reserve chairs for Jay's important people.

When we finish up with that we go to the costume room and check if all the clothes are present for the play.
We head to his office since he has a bathroom in there and we start preparing ourselves for the show.
It's 5pm and we are standing by the theater doors ready to open then up for the guests.

I didn't think so many people will show up, but many people came.
I look over at Jay and he is wiping a tear from his eyes.
I smile at that, I know he has been freaking out about how many people will show up but I guess his wish came true.

"Jay it's time, let's open the doors."
He nods and we open the doors and people start coming in and making their way to the chairs.
Jamey and I head to the back and make the final check.
Everything is ready for show.
I walk out to the podium to greet the guests.

" Hello everyone, I would like to thank you all for coming to this play. You won't be disappointed, this I can promise you. We have been working tirelessly to make this play a success. The actors here are really dedicated to their work and I know you will be happy with what they have for you. The owner of this theater will now say a few words also before the show begins," Jamey comes out and he gives me a hug "look at the front row, my baby's brother is here, isn't he hot"
I just laugh at what he is saying as I leave the stage.
Jay will always be Jay, he has a man and he is admiring another one.
I am still standing there waiting for Jamey to finish so I can que in the music to begin the show.
Jamey gives me a thumbs up and  I look back to que in the music as the first acts start.

When I turn back around I see an all too familiar face, the one person I didn't want to see for the rest of my life is standing right in front of me and just then my water breaks.

I feel pain in my lower back and Zende rushes to my side and holds me before I fell to the ground.
"Mandy I have been searching for you all over the city and you were just here under my nose"
"Get your hands of me," I shout at him.
Jamey comes to me with concern on his face.
"Babe what's wrong?"

"My water broke Jamey, it's time, call Emily up right now she has to take me to the hospital right now"
"Don't worry Jamey I will take her there."
"Take who where exactly? I don't want anything to do with you! Jay do you mind" ignoring him totally.
Jay looks so confused, but then I guess something finally clicks.
"This is the baby daddy? Zende you are the ba....wow just wow"
He fishes his phone from his pockets and calls Emily.
Zende begins dragging me to the back door of the theater and to his car, I don't know why I am even allowing this but the pain is soo intense right now I just want to get the hospital.
"Mandy, I," he begins to speak when we are on the road to the hospital and I immediately cut him off.
"Don't you even start, just go and drop me off at the hospital and you can be on your way, now shush!"
"I am not going anywhere, that's my baby you will be giving birth to, I am not going anywhere! "
"Your baby! Yours really, your baby, where were you the last 8 months? Where were you Zende, I don't want you anywhere near me and my babies"
"Babies? you are having twins?"
I decide to keep quiet and focus on breathing in and out. I don't really have the energy to deal with him right now
"Mandy please answer me."
I ignore him and continue my breathing exercises.
I just hope everything goes well with the play. I guess they didn't listen to Jay when he asked them not to ruin his play.
