Please respect that this is a work in progress - I need time to write this!
Letters From a Plastic Shore was, like my poetry, inspired by my continuing beach cleans and research into plastic pollution. Yet, whilst my poetry talks about the items that I have found and the battles I face, this collection of short stories tells the tale of plastic pollution from the perspective of both humans and animals who are so reliant on the sea. Like Polymeric Rhapsody, these stories are designed to make you think and hopefully act on pollution within your local area.
Is plastic itself a problem? No, of course not. It is a material that has truly transformed our lives and is of particular use for medical applications. It is us who is the problem. We must begin to manage ourselves and what we produce as humans better and this can only be achieved through education and learning from the mistakes of our past.
I very much hope that this goes some way to raising awareness about plastic pollution. Next time you're at the beach, or going for a woodland walk, if you see some litter - pick it up!
