Lily's P.O.V.
The next morning I walked down to the Great Hall for breakfast with James, but only because we happened to be ready at the same time.
"Are you excited for your dare? It's going to be epic. James Potter and his pink teddy bear!" I said while trying to control my laughter
"Haha, so funny" he said
"It really is" I said ignoring his sarcasm
"Hey Lily, since we're on a first name basis now, I was was wondering if you'd wanna go out with me." He said
Really? He couldn't stop asking me out for two seconds. I swear he'll be asking me to go out with him, even if I'm married to some other guy and we have seven children together.
"James, if you don't stop asking me out, I'll go back to calling you Potter" I said
He gasped and said "But then how will I know if you have a sudden change of heart and suddenly see what a sexy, funny, sweet, and smart guy I am? I would never know if I can't ask you out!"
"How about if I ever suddenly think your sexy, funny, sweet, and smart I just tell you?"
I suggested while rolling my eyes.
But the truth was, I already thought all of those things, except maybe smart.
We entered the Great Hall and I sat down next to Juliet, and James sat across from me. The other Marauders were already there. I filled my plate with pancakes and strawberries. Yum!
"Hey James, didn't you have detention with Slughorn for the next week? How are you going to go to Slughorn's detention and McGonagall's?" Asked Juliet
"I didn't really think of it. I'll just have to talk McGonagall into letting me off the hook, she loves me anyway" replied James
"You wish" chimed in Marlene, as she sat down next to James "I'm pretty sure there isn't one teacher in this school that 'loves' you, you're too much of a nuisance"
"Thanks Marlene, you're so kind" said James
"Oh please, no one could pop that big ego of yours, James" she said rather rudely but smiling none the less.
"Well don't you think it's time for your dare?" asked Sirius
"I suppose so" sighed James
James casted the Sonorus spell on himself so that all of the students would be able to hear him clearly when he spoke. He carefully climbed up onto the Gryffindor table and started to speak. His voice boomed throughout the Great Hall.
"Excuse me, Ladies and Gentlemen, it seems that I have misplaced my pink teddy bear and if anyone finds it, could you kindly return it to me? Thank you very much!" said James.
The whole Great Hall laughed at this, but I don't think he minded until some mooncalf Slytherin decided to transfigure their fork into a pink teddy bear and throw it at his head. This sent the entire Slytherin table into an uproar. I turned my head to see who threw it, and of course, sitting there with a smug look on his face, was Severus. My last conversation with him ended pretty badly that summer and I had been wanting to talk to him about it, but I was still mad at him for the mudblood thing, so there was no way in hell that I would say sorry. All I felt was hatred for him, even though I really didn't want to feel that way. Severus was the one who introduced me to the wizarding world. He was the one who helped me prepare to come to Hogwarts the summer before first year, and I could never repay him for that.
James and Sirius both stood up from the table to face Severus, but I grabbed both of their arms.
"No, don't, we already have a detention for being out past curfew, we don't need another one" I said in a stern voice
James hesitantly sat back down. Sirius stood there almost contemplating whether he should beat Severus's sorry butt or leave him alone, but he knew he wouldn't be able to take on Severus and his friends without James, so he obeyed as well.
Note to self, find Severus later and tell him off for being nothing but a git.
