Taehyung shouldn't have provoked Tyler, and yet he can't hate his decision. He's glad that he stood up for Jungkook and the Punks. He doesn't care what comes of it.

...

The nurse gave Taehyung some painkillers and a note for his gym class and swim practice. She said to rest as best he can, yet Taehyung can't go home. He has to stay for classes, so he bucks up and stumbles to Biology since he missed his Calculus class. He tries to keep his breathing even, each thump of his backpack against his back causing even more pain. Finally, Taehyung makes it to the labs on the fifth floor and falls onto the first lab stool he comes across. He takes out his notebook with a sigh, pen wobbling in his hand as he does his best to not focus on the pain. His biology teacher looks up at him, his dark grey hair gelled back out of his face and concern in his wrinkled gaze.

"Kim Taehyung? Are you all right?" the teacher asks while other students file in. Taehyung flashes him a bright—slightly pained—smile.

"I'm fine, thank you!" Taehyung quips, hoping the teacher doesn't notice his pain, doesn't push for more information about why he is so slumped over his desk. He manages to get through the class just fine, no one asking any more questions about what is wrong. They all just focus on their studies while Taehyung does his best to ignore his pain. Getting punched in the gut can cause all sorts of wonky issues from nausea to vertigo, cramping muscles and absurd pain. What normally would be a simple task has become pretty difficult for his whole mid-section is fighting the inflammation and bruising from the wound. He breathes a sigh of relief when the bell rings and he can get his lunch break now. Students flee the buildings, all of them happy that they've another hour of nothing to do. It takes Taehyung a lot longer to wander down the stairs to the outdoor courtyard where his friends reside. When Jin sees Taehyung, he runs over, eyes pooling with concern.

"What are you still doing here? I thought you would be going home?!" Jin cries as he leads Taehyung back to the group.

"No...I'm fine..." Taehyung says with a small smile, "The nurse gave me a pass for swim practice and gym, but not for the rest of my classes so here I am..."

"Taehyung..."

"I'll be okay, Jinnie-hyung, don't worry. Thanks for coming earlier," Taehyung murmurs, sitting down with a groan. He sees Tyler sneering at him from the football field, yet he ignores the stare. That guy can fuck right off. Taehyung has bigger things to worry about than him. Like healing. That is pretty damn important with their first meet next week.

"Did you bring anything for lunch...?" Jin asks, and Taehyung slowly shakes his head no.

"I'm not hungry anyway..." he meekly admits, yet when the other swim members come around, Taehyung acts as if everything is fine. Only Jin and Hobi notice the pain in Taehyung's eyes, the way he takes shallow breaths instead of deep ones, and how he resists laughing when others joke around with him. It is all too hard on his body right now. Taehyung manages to hold a conversation well enough, yet once the bell rings, he groans.

"I don't want to go to Gym..." Taehyung quietly complains to Jin, resting his head against the taller boy's shoulder. Jin laughs lightly, running a caring hand over Taehyung's shoulder.

"You can do it, Tae Tae. Be strong! All the teacher will make you do is walk around the track a few times or sit on the bleachers. You know it'll be okay," Jin chimes, before hopping off the ground. He reaches down for Taehyung to take his hand, and the small jock instantly does, groaning as he gets to his feet. His hand instinctively goes to his torso, resting above the bruise as he fights the urge to fold in on himself. Tyler can really pack a punch. Jin observes him worriedly, wanting to comfort his friend when the pain gets too bad. Yet, the wince soon clears off of Taehyung's face and he goes back to normal.
