Angel teardrops glimmered on the white roses upon the altar. The sweet smell of cake and family drama wafted through the air, bringing a sense of familiarity. Sunlight danced through the stained glass, coloring the white and grey chevron seats to look a little less southern and more… festive?
The mirror took in the soft curves of Bethany’s body. Soft white lace cradled her never-been-touched-even-by-a-Victoria's-Secret-employee chest, which rose and fell when she breathed. Her golden curls framed her tear streaked face. She always felt shameful when she allowed the temptation of vanity to take over her, but… she looked beautiful.
“Beeeeeeeeth, hey sweetie!!!” tinkled Kristin's obnoxious singsong voice. Her heart lightened at the sound of her wiser older sister's voice. Maybe she could spread some godly encouragement.
“Hi Kristin…” sniffs Bethany.
“Honey… why are you crying?” Bethany's reflection changed as Kristin placed her hands on her shoulders from behind. Bethany shuffled awkwardly, looking down from eye contact. Noticing this, Kristin ran her hands down the seam of her back, down to her hips.
“Dear sister, my sister both on Earth and in Christ, you look absolutely stunning, but…”
“But what *sniffle*”
“Are you sure that dress honors God?”
Beth panics, “How will we fix that?!?!”
“What do you propose we do?”
“Maybe we could pray abou- hey!!” Kristen had already started pulling the dress upwards until the neckline was almost to her throat.
“There!” Satisfied, she looked her sister over and brought her to an embrace.
“You know,” she breathed into her hair, “When I married Zach, I knew I'd love him forever, *cough*despiteknowinghimforonlythreemonths* cough*. Yet, I realized that the only man who could totally satisfy me is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
“Kristin, I'm scared!” Beth heaved a heavy sigh. “It's just… I've been saving myself for this day. Never hugged, never touched…. Never kissed? See, the thing is, in front of all those people… I'm afraid I won't know how to kiss…”
“You won't have to worry about it.”
Drawing near enough to smell the Simply Southern in her bleached locks, Kristin's Barbie pink lips crashed with Bethany's. She pressed harder and harder until a bright magenta ring contrasted against her pale sister's mouth. Running her hands down her dress again, she backed away.
“See, not too difficult. Don't. Worry. About. It.” With a sinisterly sweet smile and a wave, she departed the dressing room.
In shock, Beth fell to the floor, her dress circling her shaking form. When she heard the door click, her forearm hastily rose to cover her mouth.
The pastor sauntered in, smelling of the communion wine. “Wedding starts in five,” he drawled informatively. He hiccuped and left.
The pounding of the organ alerted her to get in position. People were waiting. SHE was waiting. Drawing her bouquet to her chest, she mumbled a short prayer, heaved a dry, shaky breath, and let her tears slip into her flowers.
“Okaaaaaaay so the last pastor passed out drunk behind the altar soooooo I'm here hahah. I'm not religious or anything in fact I hate religion buuuuut this will help me with my resume, at least that's what my agent said hahahaha nico nico niiiii!”
Bethany's man squeezed her hands lovingly. Beth was lightly crying, but not from elation. Her stomach felt as heavy as her dear Aunt Janice.
“Anywhoooooo one time I went to Italy and it was soooooo romantic, I mean, just like me.” ;)
“Hey!” A shuffle from behind the altar startled the audience. “You're taking a bit too long, sugartits. Speed it up!” He then proceeded to pass out again, snoring.
The officiator rolled her eyes and glared. “Okayyyyy so does anyone have any issues or whatever???”
“Stop the wedding!”
The crowd gasped. It was Kristin!
