when Dylan opened the door and saw her, he let out a sigh of relief.
'thank God, I honestly cannot take another hour of this.'
she didn't bother to ask what he meant,
she brushed past him and made her way inside.
after a quick glance over the dorm room she turned to look at him,
'where is he?' she asked.

Dylan shrugged,
'he left in a hurry earlier.
I don't know when he'll be back, but I'll go over to Wen's to give you guys some privacy.'
he threw her a wide grin and a thumbs up before pulling the door closed behind him.

and leaving her alone with her thoughts to wait.

looking around the room it wasn't hard to know which side was ju's,
his bed was a little crumpled but other than that everything was in order.
she went over it and climbed in,
now... all she had to do was wait.

two minutes in and she was already itching to find something to do,
she kept twiddling her thumbs.
and her hand was getting increasingly clammy, she considered sending him a text.
but decided against it, she didn't want him to avoid her anymore.

she flopped back on the bed with a huge sigh,
that was when she felt it,
something hard beneath her head.
she reached under the covers and pulled out the black book she had gifted him.
she flipped it open without a second thought,

the first few pages were drafts of poetry, and she read through a few, mentally editing them as she did.
then the poetry stopped,
and it became drawings...
little doodles of random things like glasses, and coffee.

but then they were figures that with each page begun to look more and more like her...

she gulped hard as she turned the other page and was confronted by a detailed portrait of herself
she needed time to make sense of it.

the jingle of keys in the door pulled her from her thoughts,
she scrambled up into a sitting position.
and as soon as she recognized the tall lanky figure that slumped through the doorway she ran towards him and enveloped him into a hug.

he let out a soft 'oof' at the force of her contact, she could tell the exact moment he realized it was her.

he had sucked in a deep breath, and his heart begun to beat wildly in his chest.
'Iris?'
he sounded hoarse and tired.
'it's me,'
she pulled back so he could see it was really her,
she held his gaze
'don't ever do that again okay?'
she said, her voice sounded hard.
and the fierce way she looked at him left no space for question.

'okay'
he said.

her eyes flit between his,
like she was checking if he was serious. after she was satisfied with whatever she found there she nodded,
pulling him back into a hug.

'okay'
