Chapter 2.
The next three months went really fast. Mum quit her job as her health started to deteriorate. I went to school every day, same as normal. Mum also lost her hair. Bianca still told mum she was beautiful every day. She doesn’t realise what’s been happening to mum. I told Kat and Jace about mum. I spent the last week of mum’s life in hospital with her. Bianca stayed at Jace and Kat’s house while I was in hospital with mum. She thought we had gone away for a holiday. Of course, she was a bit confused at why we hadn’t taken her but she loved the twins. Everyday Bianca asked me if she could talk to mum but she just didn’t have the energy. I could hear the hurt in Bianca’s voice every time after I told her mum couldn’t come to the phone. I eventually decided that I could tell Bianca that we were back and that she was staying at nans house for a little bit and that we couldn’t see her. I also decided I would buy her a puppy. I walked down to the pet shop after school, leaving Bianca with the twins, to buy the best puppy I could find. I knew she liked fluffy little dogs with a lot of energy that loved to cuddle. I also wanted a loyal dog for her. I ended up buying her a Dachshund. Less fluffy, but a really adorable puppy. It was black and brown and white with black specks on only one half of its body. It was a boy and just adorable. He had one brown eye and one green one, just like Bianca. They are perfect for each other. He didn’t have a name, best for Bianca to name him. He snuggled up on my lap the whole way to Bianca. When I got to the twins house, Bianca bounded out the door. I hadn’t told her about the puppy but she was always excited to see me. She sprinted up to my little Honda fit. “HI ANGEL!! I’VE BEEN PLAYING WITH KAT’S MAKEUP!! AM I PRETTY?” she yelled, stopping at my window and making a duckface. “Yes Bianca, You’re absolutely gorgeous.” I said, giggling along with her. Then I stopped, remembering that there was a sleeping puppy on my knee, and the news that I had to tell Bianca today. “Bianca, can you please wait for me inside sweety? I’ll meet you in there I just have to do something first. Also, can you please send out one of the twins?” I continued. I needed help getting the puppy out of the car. “Sure! I’ll meet you in there! JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACY!!!!” Bianca called as she skipped off. I guess that its Jace that she’s sending out. So I just sit in my car, stroking the gorgeous little puppy on my knee. Maybe I should have bought myself a puppy instead of Bianca. Or maybe I should’ve just bought two puppies…
Jace walks out of the house wearing just a pair of pants, with wet hair. Whoops. I guess I must have interrupted him after a shower. “HEY GUUUUUUUUUUUUUURL!!!” Jace yelled, walking up to my car. I guess he didn’t care about the interruption then. “Hey Jace, ummm, can you come here for a second and open the car door for me?” I asked. Okay so it may have sounded a lot weirder than I meant it but he didn’t seem to care he just did it anyway. “Okaaay, what’s up gurl, Bianca yelled at me to get out to the car so I thought that something might have happened but I guess not… AWWWWWWWWWWW ITS A PUPPY IWANTAPUPPYITSSODAMNCUTEASDFASGHNVUGBVVSUG” Jace’s words got too jumbled to understand but he kept going. “Jace. Jace! JACE!” I yelled, trying to get his attention. “Jace calm down, you’re going to wake her up. I bought her for Bianca because…” I couldn’t continue without crying. Jace knew immediately, as a best friend should, what was wrong. “Oh honey I’m so sorry! Here I am ranting about some damn puppy and you’re in pain. I am such a bad friend!” Jace said, breaking down into tears. He loved my mum too, and he hates being a bad friend. “Jace its okay, you aren’t a bad friend. You couldn’t have known. Also I’m fine, she’s better off now. She was in a lot of pain. I’m just worried about how B’s gonna take it. That’s why I bought her a puppy.” I replied. He immediately stopped crying. “Jace can you please take the keys out of the car and also grab the puppy for a second? I need to get out.” Of course, Jace hadn’t realised that the reason I wanted him out here was so that I could get out of the car. “Oh. Right. I forgot.” He mumbled. He grabbed the keys and the puppy so that I could get out then he gave me the puppy and kept the keys with him. We walked up to the house together but the puppy never stirred. Bianca was sitting in the lounge room putting lots and lots of makeup on Kat. Poor Kat had lipstick on her eyelids. “B. I have a present for you.” I told her as I walked into the room. Bianca looked at me and her eyes lit up. “OH MY JELLYPOP! ANGEL IT’S A SAUSAGE PUPPY! IT’S SO CUTE! WHATS ITS NAME?” She screamed it as Kat winced. “HER name is whatever you want it to be. You get to name her.” I replied. I was full blown laughing now. Poor Kat. “I’m going to call her Nelly. After mummy. She’s going to be an amazing little puppy.” Bianca said, taking Nelly off me. She walked into the other room. “You owe me big time Ang. Super big time.” Kat said walking over to me and giving me a massive hug. “I’m sorry.” That’s how I could tell that Kat was smarter than Jace. Straight away, without saying anything, she knew what had happened. “It’s okay guys, I just have to go tell Bianca. My shout for Pizza and Ice-cream for tea.” I said, following where Bianca had gone. Time to tell her the news that will absolutely change her world. Time to tell her that our mother was gone forever, never coming back. Also I had to tell her what would happen to us. We weren’t old enough to stay home alone, we had to go into the foster system. Living with strangers and leaving our friends. We still had the house. I would never sell that house. Bianca won’t take it well, but now she has a puppy and we are having pizza and ice-cream for tea. “Hey B, we’re gonna have Pizza and Ice-cream for tea tonight okay?” I said as I walked in. She had rocked Nelly to sleep in her arms and was sitting on the couch stroking her. “What’s wrong Angel?” Bianca replied. Damn. She’s smarter than I though.
