The water was hot, and it steamed up the entire room. It took me a minute’s deliberation to decide whether to have a bath or shower, because it was a combined thing. I eventually chose shower, because it was quicker.
The soap smelled like lavender, which was rather overpowering in opinion. I used it on my hair too, because it was a tangled, dirty mess.
The water and soap stung the cut on my calf, making it feel like someone was still slicing at it. I forced myself to keep cleaning it though, no matter the blood and pain. It needed to be clean in order for me to stitch it.
I grabbed a towel from the rack beside the shower/bath combo, and wrapped it around me. It was pretty thin and I felt cold away from the warm water.
I smudged the steam around the tiny mirror with my wet hand, trying to clear it up. It looked like I had a slight tan, but that could just have been windburn on my face.
I was just about to brush my hair when I heard a knock on the connecting door.
"Neto! I'm sorry Zedron," I called. I'd forgotten to unlock it. "Can you just wait a second?"
"Not really." He said.
I wrapped the towel tighter around me as I left the bathroom and walked over to open the door for him.
I was slight shocked when I opened the door and he was standing there wearing only a towel. His reaction was just about the same as mine.
"Couldn't it have waited?" I said, gesturing to the towel I was wearing.
"Umm, not really." He said, also gesturing to his towel. I'd stupidly forgotten to give him his clothes.
I laughed, and padded over to grab them for him. Undoing the package, I tossed the pants right at his face.
"Just gimme a minute,"I said, grabbing the dress thing. "I just need to change first." I disappeared into the bathroom just as the towel began to drop.
"Where's my top?" Zedron asked.
"You don't need it right now!" I said, as I pulled the dress over my underclothes.
I heard a crash, and then some cursing.
"You okay?" I asked as I towelled off my hair.
"Yeah, I was just changing and almost fell over. But why don't I need my shirt?"
I laughed. "I got a sewing kit, and was going to stitch your arm up." I told him, as I ran a brush the through the wet mop on top of my head. "The sleeve would get in the way."
He let out a little chuckle. "I see."
I stepped out of the washroom, flicking the light off.
"Woah!" Zedron said. "Where are your pants? Goodness, I hope you're wearing pants with that..."
I grabbed the leggings off of the chair and held them up to show him. "I need to stitch my leg up too." I said. “I can’t do that if I’m wearing those.”
I got Zedron to sit on the edge of the bed, and I opened up the sewing kit. Picking a relatively small needle, I bent it over my thumb to create the curve needed for sewing skin. I threaded it with a fine silk thread, and left it on top of the sewing kit I had place on the bed.
The bullet had travelled up, and left a vertical rip in his skin. It was embedded close to his shoulder joint. “This may hurt.” I told him, as I grabbed his arm and began to reach inside for the bullet. I could have left it in, but I knew from personal experience that they sometimes cause later nerve issues.
