why can't a black girl
wield a sword,
throw a shield,
be a superhero?
why can't a black girl
rock her fro,
wear her braids,
keep her cornrows to herself?
why can't a black girl
be herself,
and not be told she acts 'white' or 'black'
when she talks how she wants to?
when can a black girl
be loved for who she is
and not criticized
just for existing?
