Y/N's POV

After I prepared my tools, I started to cast a spell. This power was passed down to me and the former owner of this mysterious phenomenon has been the one who's guarding this world from the gate. Although I don't like my situation, this is my reality. I couldn't longer live as a human. Is this my punishment?

I heard the door opened. With my guard up I rushed to see who it was. To my relief it was Grandma and the twin.

"Big sister" both shouted with delight and rushed towards me and hugged me.

"Y/N I'm glad you are safe" grandma said while hugging me as well. "I thought you won't wake up again. She added with teary eyes.

"I'm sorry if I worried you" I told her and return the hug. I also hug the twins; they are already sobbing when I look at them.

"I'm sorry Karuta Kazuma. Did I scare you guys?"

Both shake this head and hugged me again.

"We're glad that you are awake Big sister" Karuta said and directly look at me. "I thought you will keep sleeping again. I thought you will never open your eyes, I thought it will happen agai- "

"No, it won't" I said cutting Kazuma. He was just sobbing.

I look at Grandma who was watching us with a motherly expression. I mouthed sorry but she just slightly shook her head and smiled.

An hour passed and when everything was settled down, I told grandma what happened earlier. She was shocked and worried, but I reassured her that everything is fine.

"are you sure that we don't need to change locations? That medium might comeback"

I look at the twins who are sleeping soundly beside me on the sofa. Karuta is at my left and Kazuma at my right. I slightly brush their hairs.

"I told you before that whatever happens we won't run away anymore. I won't run away anymore. Beside this two are just starting to warm up in here after all of that. I want to give them the best life that they deserve. I want them to experience what I couldn't when I was younger. I want to finish it all, so they don't need to burden this obligation" I reasoned.

"But like what you just told me, its dangerous here. If we stay, there's a huge possibility that those mediums will attack you again" Grandma said trying to convince me.

"and you will run again?" we heard a voice and I saw the Kid walking towards us, hands in his pockets.

"How long will you keep running?" he asked. His serious demeanor intimidates me.

"When did you get here Sir?" Grandma asked. I was confused for a moment. Grandma noticed my confusion, so she started explaining.

"Right, I haven't told you before. Joker is a friend of mine. He had help keeping the gate closed when my energy drained from fighting the mediums. After that we became friends" she explained.

"I've never heard that" I mumbled.

"Now you've heard her" the Joker mumbled with sarcasm. What's wrong with this kid?

"You are still grumpy as always" Grandma laugh which only annoyed him.

"At least I don't have a soggy face" he countered.

"Hey that's rude" I remarked. "Saying I'm rude when a certain someone didn't even thank me when I save them. That's a decorous play little one" he rebutted. "as far as I know, you are the little one here" I pointed out.

"trust me I'm much bigger than what you think" he said and smirked. I just looked at him with a confused expression.

"Okay, that's the cue. You two need to calm down" Grandma broke our unnecessary bickering. Tsk. This damn brat is pissing me off.

"Don't worry Y/N, I'm used to this runts compliments" Grandma said and went to his side ruffling his hair. The Joker glared at her and started insulting her again while trying to remove her hands from his hair.

Compliment?

This combo is so weird. They are so loud talking about their past or rather Grandma just started storytelling and the Joker throwing insults at her.

The twin started to stir; they might wake up if they continue.

"Guys, the twin might wake up; please quiet down" I said in a moderate voice. both look at me and to the twin. Grandma muttered a 'sorry' while the Joker just hissed and sat on the couch across me.

Grandma sat beside him.

"Regarding your situation, that man might comeback and try to pursue you again" back to his calm and serious character I guess he looks at me waiting for me to say something.

"I won't change my location" I said determined.

"But if you don't-" "I thought you are just a plain lady but I guess you have the guts" he smirked.

"Are you underestimating me?" I challenged him.

"Yeah, base from what happened earlier. How low does this clan fall on?" he said with smirked.

"Everything was not easy. Especially for her. You know the situation we are in, right?" Grandma defended.

"And if you keep doing that, this brat won't grow up" The Joker pointed at me. I just glared at him.

"See, glaring at her savior?" he mocked. I gritted my teeth holding my anger. I can't. I should not fall into his trap.

"I won't run, no matter what circumstances I'm in" I told them.

"Y/N" Grandma spoke my name with worry. "I know I'm still not capable of controlling this power but how can I master it if I keep running?" I told her.

"You don't need to. You don't have to" she said but I shook my head.

"Y/N just listen to me. You don't need to walk that path. You don't need to abide that responsibility. Just live like a normal person. Its not your obligation" she explained desperately. "it is!" I said.

"I owe you. If its not because of you, I'm already dead. If its not because of your blood I'm not here right now. If it not because of me, you won't lose your sister. Karuta and Kazuma won't lose their parents" I told her. Looking at the twin. It is my fault that their parents died.

It was because I was there when I should not.

"use that to master your powers. Those emotions that you are feeling right now, convert it into a fuel that will help you master your power. I can help you with that but there's a conditions" he said.

"Conditions?" he just nodded.

"I need you to help me with something" he added.
