17. Gala

I'm so sorry for the late update guys🙏🙏

Jaden's POV

It was quite late when I woke up. Drowsily, I wiped the sleep away from my face and rolled over to look at the clock.

7:15 am

I swung my legs out of bed and started my usual morning routine which consists of taking a shower, brushing my teeth and getting dressed.

I was putting on my shoes when the scent of burnt food filled my nostrils and I quickly made my way to the kitchen. I saw a maid standing there but she wasn't even aware the food had got burnt because she was making a call.

"Shit!" I muttered trying to save the food but it proved to no avail.

"What the hell Amina?!" I roared and she flinched

"Sir.. I... I... I forgo--"

"You forgot my food because you were making a call?"

"I'm sorry sir... I'll make another-"

"Shut up! I'm late already"

"I'm sorry sir. I--"

"Get out!"

The girl scurried out and I sighed deciding to have Kathryn bring me bring breakfast at the office. After all what's an assistant for?

Kathryn's POV

I was already on my way to work when I got a text from my boss stating that he wanted eggs Benedict for breakfast.

I took a cab to the nearest start bucks and there I got my morning coffee and breakfast. Soon after that I got Mr Donald's food.

Getting off from the cab I fixed my blue skirt and white blouse. Carrying my bag in one hand and Mr Donald's food in the other hand, I walked into the building and took the elevator to my office floor. I carefully placed my bag on my desk and walked into Mr Donald's office.

I was quite surprised to see him there already working.

"Good morning Mr Donald" I greeted

He looked up from his computer screen for a moment and held my gaze. He, however didn't say a word to me.

"Here's your breakfast sir" I said as I placed the food on his desk. I felt his eyes on me as I removed the lid covering the food.

"I've also gotten you your regular black coffee. If you need anything else, you know where I am. Enjoy"

I started to walk out of the office when he suddenly said "have you had breakfast?"

To be very honest, he took me by surprise. I turned towards him with a small smile on my face.

"Yes sir, thanks for asking"

"Okay, there's a pile of business contracts and meeting notes on your desk that needs to be sorted. Bring them when you're done"

"Okay sir, I'll get right on that" I said and left the office.

I quickly got to my office and started to sort the files. About four hours later, i was done.I organized them and went back to his office.

When I got to his office, he wasn't doing anything. He just sat there on his chair with his eyes closed but I know for sure he wasn't sleeping.

"A very rare sight" I thought.

I placed the file on his desk and started to clean up his desk when I noticed that he barely ate the food.

"Mr Donald, don't you like the food?"
