"So are you going to flirt with her or stand there looking stupid when she comes back to return her movies?" Steve commented as he slid up onto the counter of their new movie rental job. Robin rested her elbows against the counter space next to him. "What are you on about, Harrington?" Robin rolled her eyes as she waited for a customer to wander in. "Y/N, she comes here every couple of days and you two stare at each other with doey eyes and don't do anything."

"I don't think Y/N is-" Robin started as she pushed her elbows off of the counter, moving to rearrange the movies yet again. "Oh, she is." Steve mocked Robin as she buried her nose into the VHS stand. "I partied with Y/N for years. We were friends. She was why I graduated high school." Steve explained as he swung his dangling feet over the edge of the counter. "I always wondered who did your classwork." Robin commented, trying to change the subject before Steve dwelled too much. "Hey, she's smart." Steve pointed a finger in her direction as if he was hyping you up for her.

"I know she's smart. We sat next to each other at graduation. She was the rank above me in the top 5%." Robin pondered the memory. She remembered how you two talked back and forth before walking across the stage. How nervous you were standing before her just before walking across the stage, "Don't trip." Robin commented with her little smirk printed across her face. You turned your head over your shoulder, your hair slipping past as you rolled your eyes, a smile dancing across your face. "Thanks, Robin." You shook your head with a giggle. That giggle was forever etched in her mind. The light from in front of you shined like a halo when you turned to her. The light caught every stray hair falling out of place. It made you seem real, almost plausible in her mind for the first time in her high school career. You weren't a distant girl in the bleachers at football games anymore. You were close enough to her to touch. After walking across the stage, you sat down at the seats next to her. "So, that's it? We did all that work for that one moment?" You snorted as you looked at her in the seat. To you it felt like a moment, but for Robin it felt like a lifetime as she took in the way you walked across the stage, your hair bouncing behind you, how your legs looked just below the gown. "Yep, all for that quick moment."

"You know, I can help you, since I know her so well." Steve commented, but Robin remained quiet. She was afraid to say yes, in fear of the constant teasing Steve would do afterwards that she asked for help from him. Steve waited a second before jumping off the counter moving to straighten up more of the shelves. "Girls like it when you play hard to get. They always want what they can't have. They also like confidence. They appreciate confidence and cockiness." Robin found herself making notes of what Steve was saying in her head even though she knew she shouldn't have. She knew about girls. She herself is a girl. Steve had more romantic experience with girls, as much as she hated to admit it, so she found herself listening.
