rubbing his eyes, luke thought about how his day started. early.

luke rolled over in bed and admired her face. kailey looked so peaceful as she slept, her eyelashes laid gently on her upper cheeks. he loved her.
he looked at the clock, seeing it was 12:00 AM. he wrapped his arm around her slender figure and closed his eyes, thinking about the time they met. it was almost a year ago when he walked into the university and crashed into her. he remembered thinking she was the most beautiful person he had ever seen.
he kissed her neck, and nuzzled close to her, ready to drift back to sleep. he was just about to wander into a dream-like state when his phone rang, jerking his eyes open.
he rolled over and stepped off the bed, grabbing his phone in the process. after stepping out onto the balcony of their one bedroom apartment in chicago, he pressed the green button to answer the call.
"hello?" luke had been too tired to look at the caller i.d., so he was clueless as to who was calling him at midnight on a sunday morning.
"hi, luke. it's kat." said the tired voice on the other end of the line.
luke's heart stopped. kat was his ex from when he lived in australia. she was not a nice girl. she did what ever she could to get him to like her in australia, and he was sure that was the reason she was calling now.
"uh, hi, kat. what's up? why are you calling me at midnight?"
"oh, sorry about that. i just got here, to chicago. i remembered that you had said you were moving here and i need a place to stay for a few days. just until i find a place i can stay myself." kat pleaded into the phone.
luke wasn't too keen on the idea. he knew kat would stop at nothing to get what she wanted and if she wanted luke, hurting kailey wouldn't be a problem for her.
"isn't there any other place you could stay?" luke asked.
"not really. i flew here to start university, but they haven't set me up a dorm yet. i'm really sorry, it's okay if you can't. i can always use the little money i have on a hotel room."
"no, no, there's no reason to do that. i guess you can stay here, do you need a ride here?"
"yeah, i'm at the o'hare airport, i can meet you outside." kat spoke into the phone.
"yeah, that seems like a good plan. i'll be there soon."
with that luke hung up the phone and leaned against the edge of the balcony, pushing his face into his hands. everything was going to be screwed up and he knew it. sighing, he walked into his and kailey's shared bedroom.
he pulled some grey sweatpants over his boxers, snatching a black t-shirt from the floor to throw over his torso.
he walked around the bed, leaning over to kiss kailey's forehead. as he did that, she began to stir, waking up just enough to see luke fully clothed and ready to leave.
"luke? where are you going? what are you doing?" kailey said in a groggy voice. even half asleep, luke thought kailey was so beautiful. her blonde hair was sticking up a little, and she looked like she would fall alseep at any minute.
"someone back from australia flew in today and called me. is it okay if they stay here for a few days?"
"yeah, sure. are you going to pick them up?"
"yes, sorry to leave you. if it was up to me i would stay snuggled with you all night. i'll be back soon." luke leaned down and kissed her forehead again before she closed her eyes and went back to sleep.
grabbing his car keys, luke slipped on some vans and walked out to his car.

so this is the format like it will have like a sentence at the top that is like right now and then like luke reliving the moment in present tense and yeah so i hope you guys like it i am excited to write this. there will be 24 chapters, one for each hour, and the chapter title will be written like french time (0h00, 1h00, 2h00, etc) which basically just means the number in front of the h is the hour and the numbers after are the minutes. ok i love you guys.
