Stephen
It had been 1 week after I rejected Hailey's offer. I was drowning myself in math class. We had an exam coming up soon and I was so not ready for it.
I hate to admit it, but I really needed her help.

'See ya later, golden boy.' Draymond says throwing up a peace sign as we got out of practice.
I headed out of the gym and was walking towards my car when I saw Hailey walking towards her car which was parked not to far from mine.
This was my chance.
I scurried over to her and gently grabbed her arm to turn her around.
As I turned her around, her eyes were watery, red and puffy.
Was she crying?
Her eyes were empty and full of sadness. It almost broke me seeing her like this. Why did this affect me?
'Hailey, are you okay?' I said struggling to get out the words.
She cleared her throat and couldn't find any words to say.
She broke down in tears again. I pulled her close to my chest wrapping my arms tightly around her with me being taller than her, my cheek was resting on top of her head. For some reason, i felt the necessity to plant a kiss on top of her head so i did.
We stayed hugging for like 4 minutes letting her cry over me but i didn't care.
She pulled away and wiped her nose with her sleeve.
'I-Im sorry--' she started but i cut her off.
'No no don't say sorry. Its okay.' I said.
'What happened?' I asked scared that she might break down again.
'My g-grandma passed away this afternoon. My mom called me right now.' She sobbed.
'Your Grandma Judy? I'm so sorry, you guys were so close. I only met her a couple of times but she was an amazing woman and it would hurt her to see you like this.' I said wiping her tears with my thumb.
She sobbed some more.
'Its not safe if you drive like this, give me your keys.' I said.
'But what about your car?' She asked.
'Draymond can take it home, besides he's always wanted to drive it.' I said.
'Get in the car, I will be right back.' I said scurrying over back to the gym to give my car keys to Dray.
I ran back to her car and turned it on.
The ride back was silent. I didn't want to ask her anything knowing it might overwhelm her.
We arrived and we both got out. We were outside her house.
'Thank you, Stephen.' She said and smiled.
'Call me Wardell.' I gestured.
I usually don't let no one call me that. Only people I care about call me that and in that instant I just felt something.
She smiled.
'Would now be a bad time to take you up on your offer?' I blurt.
She simply laughed and shook her head.
'Goodnight Wardell.'
'Goodnight Hails.'
