Something strange was happening. Loki wasn't sure if it was just his vision or reality, but the city seemed even further away than it previously was now.
Every step the brothers took seemed to drag them farther away from New York.
Was the city itself moving?
Loki swept that thought out of his head. That's not even possible.
They have been walking about an hour past when they should of been there already. The city was now as far as it was when they first landed on Midgard.
Thor seemed to notice as well, because his expression showed confusion and annoyance.
The younger god noticed this. "Yes, Brother, I notice it too," He spoke up before his older brother could.
Thor sighed, staring forward again. "I don't believe it to be worth walking at this point, Loki. We're making absolutely no progress whatsoever."
Loki couldn't disagree, his older brother had a point.
At this, both brothers stopped walking, and then the city seemed to be in a stand still once more, as if it were simply teasing them and casting illusions that made them feel like the city was moving, though it actually wasn't. Unfortunately, the brothers knew this was weird reality.
Someone had to be doing this.
Both brothers stood there and stared at the city, which was a lot of miles closer not even 2 hours ago.
They had been walking for 12.
Loki took in a deep breath. He was exasperated, but mostly frustrated.
They had been walking for hours. And yet they accomplished nothing.
He just wanted to give up.
His head turned toward Thor, who had stopped and was probably processing all of this as well, and knowing him, he'd probably get mad.
Loki felt the ground become unstable under his feet, but apparently Thor hadn't noticed.
Glancing downward, he saw a crack seeming to form a large circle around him. And he knew what was about to happen.
Thor saw his brother look up at him with a blank, but yet fearful expression on his face.
"Thor-"
A yell of surprise emitted from Loki's throat as he disappeared into the crevice left by the small hole where the God of Thunder once stood.
Instantly, the older God of Thunder ran over and glared down the pitch black hole. It wasn't a short drop.
"BROTHER!" Thor cupped his hands over his mouth and yelled.
It was useless. He listened to his voice bounce off the narrow, but yet decently large opening.

Loki was falling and falling and falling. He didn't know when it was going to stop.
He had watched his brother, and the blue hue of the day-lit sky fade out from his view, and then it all went black, like a flickering lamp finally going out in a dark midst.
The thoughts were swirling around in his head, more than he could possibly cope with. It was like a spinning tornado in his head.
He didn't know how long he was screaming, probably until he felt his feet make contact with the ground and gods, did that HURT.
A sudden flash of white light seemed to explode in his face once he hit the ground.
He was sure his legs were broken, and maybe some of his organs scarred.
The feeling of falling for so long didn't go unfamiliar to the God of Mischief. It reminded him of when he was sent falling for a torturous 30 minutes, thanks to Doctor Strange.
Luckily, he had sorcery, so he used it to somewhat heal his legs, though there were not ready to support his weight just yet.
His abdomen was throbbing horribly. The impact wasn't soft.
A soft, green glow was emitting from his hands as he gently placed them on the tender areas of his abdomen. A low groan escaped his lips as the pain was intense, but it could of been a lot worse.
While he waited for his magic to set in completely, he took in his surroundings, which seemed to have changed completely.
Loki seemed to have landed in a narrow hallway that seemed to stretch for at least 5 miles. Along the walls were dimly-lit torches, evenly spaced out, seeming to stretch for about 4 and a half miles.
He found the strength to get to his feet. Once he successfully stood, his legs threatened to buckle under his weight, but it seemed to settle once he began to walk.
Xhosa could still be out there in search of his brother, and his brother is now all alone.
Knowing Thor, he'd probably search the whole planet for him. That wouldn't surprise the God of Mischief of course.
He had searched for anyway to climb back up to the top, but it was highly unlikely he'd ever make it out that way, so he just had to explore and find his way out.

Thor was pacing back and forth, deep in thought and processing what just happened.
He was pacing beside the gapping hole left in the earth that his younger brother just fell through. Who knew how deep that went?
Him, obviously, had the marvelous idea of jumping down there after him, but after giving it some thought, he doubted even Loki would jump down a hole after him, especially having no idea where it led or how deep it was.
There had to be somewhere he could get down there from...
By now, the sun was beginning to set. The hue of a beautiful orange spreading its marvelous colors across the horizon, and all of the land in wondrous beauty.
When night had arisen, the stars sparkled in the black sky like small glimmers of hope scattered across the universe.
If only Thor could grasp those small glimmers of hope, piece them together, and rescue his brother.
But he knew it was too late to do that now.
He'd have to wait until morning. If it ever came...It would seem forever for the mighty god.
He hoped his brother would survive long enough.
