Chapter 8. Tunnels and Dreams

(Claw POV)

I grinned from upon hearing the news. "C' mon, let's go," Panda said, taking the lead. I looked over at my sister with concern. "Panda, how far is the building holding Olive, Sussy, and Raven?" She gave me a puzzled look, "10 miles, why?" "Well, that's pretty close, isn't it?" Gawain scoffed, "I can barely walk ten miles! So, no it's very far." 

        Shrugging, we continued down the long tunnel. "Uhm, guys, do you feel cold?" I shook my head, even though she couldn't see in the dark. "No..." Then there was a shriek, and footsteps echoed through the cave. "NINJA-" Panda's voice echoed, sounding off the walls. "Guys?!" I called, backing up. "Yeah?!" I heard Gawain call back. Relief washed over me a bit until I realized Ninja and Panda weren't responding. Times up...  the words rang through my head as I felt the world go hazy, and my body loose consciousness.

(Raven POV)

I crept through the hallways, silently getting into my kart. "Raven, where are you going?" I froze, slowly turning to face Angelia. Her face was bearly visible in the moonlight, but I could see she was concerned. "Uhm, just, I'm going out. To the Quests in BG," I confessed. Angelia sighed, twirling her hair on her finger. "You know doing it at night isn't safe..." she trailed off. I nodded, "You can come with me." 

She looked at me, her brown eyes sparkling. "But- fine, fine!" She walked over to her Quest Kart, which Dee had custom made for her.  "Let's get this over with," she said. I chuckled,  "Okay, race you there!" I took off, dust the sand flying underneath my wheels as the wind brushed over my face. "Hey, no fair!" I could hear her voice say. "Raven!" 'Lia laughed.

"Raven! RAVEN!" I was shaken awake, feeling tears pouring out of my eyes. "Rav, it was just a dream," Sussetty said calmly, sitting down again. I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "It felt so real though..." "Yeah, they've been playing with our minds," Olive told me, looking at her feet. If I had one wish, it would be to have the ability to read her mind.  

~*~ Five minutes earlier ~*~

I was climbing with Panda, the wind blowing my hair back. Smiling, I reached for another rock, only to slip and fall. I screamed but stopped when a hand grabbed my own. 

Looking up, my eyes met with my sisters as she put me on a nearby ledge. "Careful, sis, Rock climbing is dangerous," she said."Sorry for scaring you," I joked, smiling as I removed my gloves. She laughed, "Oh boy, you're lucky I grabbed you. Anyway, we should head back. We've done enough exploring and we've gotta report to K to tell her about the Glitch a mile back." I nodded, Climbing down the wall with ease. 

Running through the small creek, I beat Panda to camp. Some New Users were there, waiting for us to "spill" what we had seen. Panda ginned beside me, and when I followed her gaze I knew why. K, Dot, Dee, Del, Harley, Lizz, Gus, Gawain, IgiKo, Dawson, and Collin were waiting by the Games tent. She was mainly smiling about Lizz, but I was happy to see Dee, Collin, and IgiKo. 

A New User, Paige, bounded up to me. "Hey, Pups! How was exploring?" She beamed. I laughed, honestly this girl. "It was good." "Um," she said shyly, "when do you think I could try?" I shugged, but a different voice said: "You can now!" K. Paige and I grinned, thanking K and running toward the Glade's Quest Truck. "Olive!" Paige laughed.

"Olive! Olive!" Sussetty shook me awake. I realized Paige wasn't there, Collin wasn't, neither were, K, Gus, Dee, Gawain, Iggy, or Panda. Now I started to cry, thinking of my sister who I had no idea where she was. "They are playing tricks with our minds, Olive," Sussetty said calmly. "Su, it was her! And Him! She was there!" I put my face in my hands, Paige still in my thoughts. 

~*~ Present Time ~*~

(3rd Person POV)

Raven and Lizz looked at Olive and Sussetty one last time, before disappearing into the vents. "You sure they'll be okay?" Lizz asked. Raven's breath hitched in her throat. "Y-yes, They will," she replied firmly, though she wasn't quite sure herself.
