"KERMIT??" You gasp, looking to your mother and then back at Kermit. His large stature and piercing eyes send your heart into a loop of hatred. Why did she have to invite this guy?! He's the worst...
You try to remain calm and be polite while welcoming Kermit into your home. Even though you didn't want him anywhere near you or your mother, you had to stay kind and allow him the dinner he and his mother were promised.
Your mother shuffles into the kitchen and comes back out balancing four bowls of soup in her arms and hands. She sets them all down and everyone takes their seats. You grab everyone a glass of water and sit down as well. The night continues on with loud silence.
Every once and a while, you take a glance at Kermit, just wishing this night would be over with so you didn't have to put up with this guy any longer than you already have. He notices at some point and rolls his eyes in your direction. You almost snap your spoon in half.
Eventually, everyone finishes their soup and you take all the plates into the sink while your mother and Kermit's mother continue on with a small conversation. You, of course, decide to stay in the kitchen and rinse the dishes. Something you never would have done despite the current circumstances. But tonight, you wanted any reason to be away from this stupid green asshole. ANY REASON AT ALL!!
BUT NO! Your mom sees this as a perfect opportunity to be the worst. She glances over at you and smiles. "Hey, (y/n), why don't you and Kermit go out for a walk while me and his mom set up some board games?" You growl under your breath and walk over with hate in your eyes. "Ah, I dunno...it's dark and he probably doesn't really wan-"
You're cut off by Kermit's deep and buttery voice, "Sure. I could use some fresh air, I guess." He shrugs and starts walking towards the door. Your jaw drops and you internally groan, realizing you'll have to join him now in this stupid "late night walk."
You two head outside in the rain. He doesn't seem to mind it, but you bring an umbrella anyway. You only cover your head, though, since you don't care if he is wet or not. It's not your problem. You don't care! You don't! Stop acting like you do. You don't.
You walk alongside him and there's a strangely comfortable silence between you two. The moon was risen just above the trees and the streetlights were gleaming through the rain.
You look up at Kermit, feeling strangely calm around him. It annoyed you, but it was a weird...peaceful annoyed. Hard to explain, I suppose. Finally, he stops walking and you stop in front of him, puzzled.
He opens his mouth and begins to say, "(Y/N), you're not as big of a loser as I thought. You're actually..." He seems to struggle with words. "You're chill, I guess." He rolls his eyes at himself.
You blush, never having felt these feelings before. "I...um..."
He shakes his head and grabs your hand. "Let's go back, (y/n). I'm sure they're done by now." He looks like he has something up his sleeve, but you just can't tell what it is. And no, not a literal sleeve, a sort of trick. You get it.
As he pulls you back home, you can't help but feel a rush of heat to your face.
