Stepping into the world and seeing it as a glowing gem of possibility
Then as you grow you see that the shine is corrupted by infidelity
And no matter how you twist and turn to fight against the tide
You'll continue to drown as they yell "Take a side!"
Being pulled from one to the other, seeing no end in sight
Even though you try to fight to that end with no growing might
Then, as you start to give, start to confide
In the darkness that has done nothing but lie
You start seeing a release in a form that you once turned from
Joy filling the tiring body from the thought of what is to come
You'll start to fall deeper into the tar that has clouded your heart
No longer able to see which way would be smart
Taking directions that lead to the inevitable downfall
Health taking a toll as it starts rolling away like the ball
You've played with as a child in the days of young
Long before you ever thought of pulling the plug
But then you do and you feel this lightness that you once thought lost
It fills you with an energy that had left because of the cost
That life demanded came at much too high a price
All randomized by the roll of the Almighty God's dice
Now you have a choice:
Continue living as the puppet that has become your body
Or break free from the rules of somebody
That reigns above you from an unknown throne
Demanding your everything as if it was a loan
You then chose the path that will make you most happy
Even if it makes those who claim love snappy
Who are they to decide what is wrong or right
When it's your life that you can decide to fight
And, once you find the end of that path
No longer caring for the wrath
That will surely follow this disgraced end
But you will decide how to spend
The last cent that came with your life
Even if it's at the end of the knife
You'll end up hesitating at the final moment
Whether you can really commit
To this choice that will take away everything you've ever had
But then you see that you will only end up glad
As the blood flows from your head
The land becomes your final bed
And that is the end of the life you had borrowed
And even though it was hollow
As as you lay among the dew
It knew that that would be the last of you.
