CHRISTINA'S POV
Orders came up in full pile as the week comes to an end. Students lurking around getting their coffee and sweets fix to fight off the stressful week they are probably experiencing. Exams week are hectic. Bidding my way to the counter I placed the new batch of cupcakes onto the display shelves. I can't help my mind to wonder to the previous night. Kissing Blake Stanford is all but breathtaking.
Literally. If not for Remy's call checking up on my whereabouts, we won't be breaking the kiss.A commotion outside the doors caught me to look up and see what is happening. Flashes from cameras are following the figures that is about to enter my cafe. Tyra Banks isn't dropping by anytime right? Pushing through the crowd of paparazzi and gawking onlookers, my eyes distinguished the figures clothed with what I assume the lastest fashion trend plastered on magazines right now.
"Mother." I greeted the glamorously clad woman standing in front of my counter. Pasting a fake smile just to ease the eyes looking our way.
Claudia Stevenstone. On her side I noticed that she is not alone. Dressed in high heels, figure hugging peplum pair and a hand bag that cost more than a monthly order of my cupcakes, my step sister Clarrissa sticks out like the supermodel she is.
Whispers starts and curious customers are pulling their phones out to capture the duo. Hating too much attention which I'm part of since I'm inside their zone, I gestured to the pair to follow me in my office.
Where snooping eyes and ears are far from us. So much for privacy these days...
As the doors closed, providing the much needed privacy. I face the women and raised my eyebrows to my queries, "What was that about?"
"Oh Christina aren't you a little behind the news?" My so called sister frantically waves her left hand on the air. The afternoon light catches the huge stone that sat on her fingers, casting a glow that can blind the eye unintentionally.
My mother who was silently perched on the side with an all out grin passed on to me what appears to be an invitation card embossed with the initials T&C. Opening the card it was an invitation letter to my sister's engagement party.
"We want to hand you that personally so you'll have no room to say no. No excuses this time." My mother speaks stopping the excuses forming in my head. They are cornering me.
"I will be ordering from you for both my Engagement and Wedding cake. That way, you must be present to do so." My sister supplied leaving me no choice as she hands me a picture of her dream cake with her flavour of choice at the back.
It will be good for your Business Christina plus a free promotion if we're doing the cake for the 'wedding of the year'.
Shaking my head at her words, "I say congratulations is must then." I gave my step sister the best fake smile I can do at the moment. I was slightly annoyed with their grand entrance and each second that ticks leaves me even more annoyed.
Standing up form their positions, both women beamed at each other seeing that they got what they came for. "That's settled then, we'll be seeing you at the party." Clarrissa said before walking towards the door in her killer heels.
"And it will be a couples thing so be sure to bring a plus one." Claudia Stevenstone reminds me over her shoulders following my sister's exit.
Thank heavens they're gone.
Lowering back to my seat, I scanned the card one last time. Two weeks. The engagement is in two weeks and they just drop it now. Ugh.. those two are unbelievable. I couldn't help on scratching my hair with their antics.
