CHRISTINA'S POV

The days drag and the engagement party is tomorrow. I still have to deliver the cake before the party starts and come back to attend it.
Remy was already packed for his flight this evening so he's just lounging in my office until he's scheduled to go. I'll be driving him to the airport and then head back home.

The cake has been up and ready since yesterday. It only needs small details to achieve the desired design. It was a bit laborious but seeing it displayed to all the guests that will be present tonight will be worthwhile.

Speaking of guests, I'm reminded to have my plus one with me on the guests' lists. Since Remy can't be my partner due to his impending departure, he suggested then that he's going to take care of it.

Right after closing the cafe and asking my staff for assistance tomorrow, I'm dropping Remy to the airport.

"Have a safe flight, Remy," I told my best friend after the tight hug.

"Thanks, baby girl. Don't forget to send me pictures of the party and especially your dress. And one more thing," he was carrying his bags since his flight is called through. "Your date will be on your doorstep 7 sharp. So you might get ready by then." he solely reminds me again of my so-called mystery date.

With the tedious cake, I haven't mind that part. Leave that to my best friend to not missed any detail. I was waving him goodbye until he disappeared to the gates. That's my cue to drive home and get the much-needed rest before tomorrow.

By the time I've arrived home, I come upon a quiet apartment. This makes me a little sad cause I know Remy won't be around to scattered around the cheerful atmosphere that is always attached to his personality.

Guess it's straight to bed then.

Morning comes in a blur. I did my morning routine as fast as I can and check on Remy on his safe landing. I skipped breakfast since I don't feel like eating alone. So by the time I reached the cafe, I was in dire need for anything that could wake me up to start this day. Caffeine should do the trick.

I was in my second cup when the van is ready to transport the cake to the venue. Thankfully it is located about 15 minutes from the cafe therefore, the less prone it is to any unneeded accidents. Arriving in the hotel which the party will be held tonight, I guide my staff in carrying the heavy two-tiered cake inside the venue. Placing it on the large round table beside the made-up stage. Securing that it is well balanced to last til the end of the event tonight.

A voice can be heard on the other side of the ballroom venue. Directing floral decors and table settings on their designated placements and checking on the guest's list. Noticing our accomplishment on the cake she approached our small group.

"Hi, you must be from Sweet Tooth cafe?" she asked.

"Yeah, we're assigned to do the cake," I replied to the woman before me holding a clipboard, gesturing to the settled cake behind me. I can right out assume her clipboard contains the guest's list which makes her the party planner of this engagement party. But I couldn't place where her eyes, striking blue eyes looks familiar.

You know half of America's population has blue eyes, Tina.

"So your the Baker and Owner, am I right?" she said pulling me out from my internal monologue which I replied with a nod and a small smile.

"Oh! I totally love your creations. My daughter loves your red velvet cupcakes, they are very delicious." she gushed excitedly as if she couldn't believe I'm real.

Her bubbly persona is fascinating that I laugh softly at her gushing, "Thank you..."

"Alexandria Harrison. Nice to meet you..." she said.

"Christina Henderson" shaking her extended hands. "Its Tina for short," I told her.

Her initial excitement has totally rubbed off on me. We chatted for a while about the cake and the decors. Before we know it we part ways not after her saying she'll be dropping by my cafe with her daughter next week.

Checking the time on my phone, I still have 3 hours to prepare and do my hair before my mystery date knocks on my doorstep.

That's enough time for a girl to prepare, right?

Once, I got inside the apartment I rush to the bathroom to take a shower. Washing away the dirt I got in the morning. After that, I continue to wrap a towel on my body and took another towel—a smaller towel, and proceed to dry my hair. Once that's done, I went to my closet and choose a pair of nice lingerie. The pair was in a red color matching the gown that Remy got for me after he found out about the party. He may not be here to escort me to this dreaded event, but at least he has some say in what I'll wear to face my mother and her new family.

Seeing that I have an hour left, I sat on my dresser to do my makeup. I may not have an active social life but doing my own makeup is something I take pride in. Something about boosting some confidence by looking good. I just don't want to overdo it, so I keep it as minimal as possible.

Doing a smokey eye, I didn't put on too much instead I go for the more softer look. Layering some mascara on my lashes to make them fuller and add a little blush to highlight my cheeks. I just brushed my eyebrows into place since I'm one of the gifted people that have natural perfect brows.

Curling my hair, I placed it on one side secured by bobbie pins. I want to place on my lipstick last to avoid sticking it all over my dress. So, I drag in my gown from its confines and couldn't help to stare in awe once I put it on.

The dress is beautiful. The gown is in a Princess cut style with a slit that runs from the middle of my thigh. Red and gold small floral beads run all over the bodice of the dress as the fine lace cover and flow down toward the end. A small gold belt complements my hips creating an illusion to my hourglass figure. Thus,
to finish the look I took out the only red four-inch heels I owned.

As I was putting on my lipstick, the doorbell rings followed by a knock on my door.

Mystery Date is here.

I check on my bedside clock to find that he is right on time.

7 sharp

"Coming" I yelled to whoever it is on the door.

Grabbing my clutch, I checked on the inside to find my phone, wallet, and lipstick in there. I shuffle to the door checking myself in the hall mirror one more time.

This is it. Smile and Relax, Tina.

I repeat the mantra in my mind and focusing all my strength to face the mystery man outside my door.

Breathe and Relax.

Breathing deeply one last time, I turned the knob and open the door to reveal the man that my Bestfriend set me up for tonight.
