Kaldur stood, leaning against a teacher's desk as the awkward silence grew. He looked around the room. Raquel and the new girl, Artemis, were perched atop a desk in the front row. Both looked like they couldn't care less. Richard and Wally were sitting properly in desks next to each other, scribbling out notes to each other. Zatanna swung her legs as she sat on top of the desk Kaldur was leaning against.

Finally, Kaldur couldn't take it anymore. "Ok, I know that most of us do not get along, but we have to do this project, so we need to at least talk to each other. Ms. Merriweather said that we had to go to all of our houses, so who wants to offer up theirs first?"

"My parents aren't home, so I guess mine, but not today because it's a mess," Raquel said. "I had a fun weekend. It'll be good to go by tomorrow."

"My dad doesn't like to have people over," Wally said. "But he's going on a business trip in two weeks, and I doubt that my mom will mind you coming over then."

"I dunno about mine," Artemis said. "My mom... well, a lot's happened in the last couple of months and we're still moving in. I doubt that she'll appreciate having eight teenagers in her house. She can barely stand me right now." The blonde said the last part with a small laugh.

"I'm sure my dad won't mind," Zatanna said perkily. "He loves to have guests over. It gives him an excuse to get out the good plates and cutlery for his homemade food."

"I know mine won't," Richard said. "But I vote we got to Zatanna's. I never say no to free food."

"Dude, neither do I, but you're literally one of the richest kids in the world." Wally snickered. "What do you care if food is free or not? Besides, you have Alfred."

Richard smiled. "You're right. I do have Alfred."

Kaldur wondered who this 'Alfred' was, but the conversation was moving faster than he expected it to.

"I think my dad would be cool with it, but I'm not sure. I'll ask my stepmom, I know that she'll say yes," Conner said moodily. "My baby brother is a nuisance, though."

"My uncle won't have a problem with it, and my aunt gets home late. The only problem would be my own little brother. He's eight," Megan giggling. God, why was she giggling? Kaldur did not understand girlish giggling, and he was pretty sure that he was ok with that.

"My foster parents will be happy to have you," Kaldur said. "But their son is best friends with Megan's brother, so he may have to tag along. Well, who's first?"

"I'll do it!" Zatanna said. "Like Dick said, who doesn't like free food?"

"Ok, well, I guess that's figured out. Ms. Merriweather said we have until December to finish the project. We handle each family with each house," Kaldur said. "Zatanna, you good for this afternoon after school?"

"Yup! I'll text my dad right now." Zatanna pulled out her phone.

"Everyone else good with that?"

A chorus of "yeah"s met his ears.

He sighed. Well, at least they had a plan, even if half of their group hated each other.
