Chapter Two
Everything was different the next morning. I felt different and I definetely looked different. I was wearing a crisscross budding floral dress( a dress Eric gave me for Christmas) with tights and black flats. I wore my hair down with a front hair puff. And for the first time ever I took out my makeup kit that I hid under my bed. I put on lipgloss and mascara. Honestly, I was just wearing makeup to try it. I felt like a different me. A me that’s been bottled up for way too long. I smiled and I took my song book. My song book is where I write all my songs in. I shoved it in my backpack and opened my door. I ran smack into Jen. She looked at me.
“Oh my god. Mom wasn't lying.S he's actually letting us wear what we want,” she laughed. I put my arm around her.
“Don't worry Jen you can thank me tomorrow and the next day and the next,” I smiled at her. I let go of her and walked down stairs. My mom was sitting at the table. She gasped when she saw me.”Hi, mom”. I grinned at her and grabbed an apple. I took a huge bite.
Was she going to flip?, I thought.
“You look adorable, Leslie! Although, I dont think you needed the make up," Mom said.
“I know I don't need it mom just trying some things out,” I stated. I heard dad’s car beep.“Jen! Dad’s waiting!”. I heard footsteps on the stairs. Jen came down wearing a floral skirt that I had gotten her for christmas with leggings and flats. We ran out the door and into the car. My dad didn't even say anything about my outfit. Man, life was good.
“Leslie, I'm dropping you off first today. I have to speak with the elementary school principal," he said. I nodded. Dad stopped the car a block away from the school. I saw Eric talking to a cute guy. I waved bye towards my dad and walked towards Eric. He stared at me. He said something to the guy and he left. When I reached Eric he basically grabbed my arm.
“Where’s Leslie? And what have you done with my best friend?” he asked.
I spun around.
“So you like the new look,” I laughed. We walked into the school building.
“Why… I mean I love it. But you always said you didn’t care about clothes,” he said.
“I guess I was just fooling myself. This is me Eric. The girl who isn’t afraid to try new things. The girl who loves singing. This is the real me. This is Leslie Carter not Leslie Faith” I stated. I felt eyes staring at me.
“Looks, like everyone loves the new you,” he whispered. A boy I recognized as Brian Lightly( the most popular guy in school and also the dumbest) came up to me.
