Chapter Five

My head was pounding when I woke up. The worse part was that I had no idea where I was. I was in a robe with a night gown underneath. I didn’t remember a lot from last night besides going to a party with Eric. I got up slowly and glanced around the room. I was in a mansion. I glanced at the bedstand and saw a picture of Will.

Oh my gawsh, I thought. This is Will's house. Will's rich? That made no since at all. Have you ever met a rich bad boy. But then it did make since. He asked me to a benefit.

"How are you feeling?" a voice behind me asked. I jumped and  turned around. There was a woman standing there."Sorry to scare you".

"It's okay," I smiled.

"I'm Laura. Will's mom," she introduced.

"Oh, I didn't know that Will was..." my voice trailed off.

"A Baker?" she offered. I was going to see rich but whatever. It all made sense now. Will Baker. The Baker's Industries. How did I not realize it before?"He didn't tell you. We adopted him and his sister when they were just little kids". Adopted? Will?

"He must've left that part out," I mumbled.

"He went to go grab you some breakfast. Said you probably wouldn't like gourmet food," Laurie said. What? Who doesn't love gourmet food?

"Do you know how I got here?" I asked.

"Will came in late last night and you were sleeping. He said you had a little too much to drink so he brought you here. Don't worry we had our maid give you a cold shower and change you into a nightgown," she said.

" Can I look around if you don't mind?" I asked.

"Of course," she smiled.

I left the room and explored the hallways. There were about 20 doors. They had a small little movie theater. A indoor pool. This house was huge. I was heading back into the room. When I saw a little girl.

"Hello, ma'm," she grinned. She had one missing tooth in the back of her mouth. It was adorable.

"And would you be Will's little sister?" I smiled.

"Yes. And would you be Will's girlfriend?" she replied.

No,no,no, just a friend," I chuckled.

"My name's Emilie," she introduced. She held out her hand. I shook it.

"I'm Leslie," I said.

"I see you've met everyone," I heard Will's voice behind me. People have got to stop scaring me.

"Will! I lost my tooth today!" Emilie yelped, jumping into Will's arm.

"That's great. Could you give me a minute to talk to my friend?" he asked. She nodded and skipped off.

"I should go," I stated.

"I brought you some donuts and a latte. Thought we could have breakfast together," he said. I bit my lip.

"Sure. I'm starved," I shrugged. Hey, what was the harm in having breakfast, I thought. Besides EVERYTHING.

"Great, I had our maid lay out some clothes for you. I'll meet you downstairs," he said. I nodded.

After I took a shower I saw the clothes on the bed. I could tell they'd been steamed. There was a pair of gray jeans, a gray blouse polka dotted blouse witha black sweater, and the flats I'd worn last night. What was I still doing here,I thought. Eric's probably freaking out.

His maid whose name is Lucilya led me out to a garden where Will was sitting. The maid left us and I stared at Will.

"So what happened last night with me?" I asked, taking a chocolate donut.

"You got drunk, played spin the bottle, threw up all over the bottle, almost got hit by a car, and you knocked out," he explained. Then, it all came flooding back to me. I frowned.

"You know, I didn't mean it when I said you were cute," I said.

"You totally think I'm hot," he laughed.

"No!" I yelped. I could feel my cheeks turning red.

"Maybe I should go carve our names into that tree," Will chuckled, making kissy faces at me. I shoved a donut in his mouth.

"So why didn't you tell me you were adopted or I don't know a Baker?" I asked.

"It's not something I like to tell people," he replied.

"I don't care. I mean...it's just... we're kind of sort of friends I guess. And friends should tell each other this kind of stuff," I said. Oh my god. I sound so clingy, I thought."I have to go".

"I'll drive you," he offered.

"I think I'll just walk but thanks," I said.

"Look, I know your mad about me taking Katy to the benefit," he said.

"Mad? Why should I be mad?" I asked.

"I know you and Katy aren't exactly friends. And I know it hurt you that I took her as a replacement," he said. Everything he said was true and it hurt. But I wasn't going to let him know that.

"I wasn't mad because of that. You need to get this crazy idea that I like you more than a friend out of your head. I've never liked Katy," I said.

"Just admit it! You like me," Will shouted.

"I'm dating someone," I lied. His eyes widened.

"Wwhat?" he asked.

"I have a boyfriend. I didn't tell anyone because my parents can't know," I told him. He stood up and threw his chair against a tree. I jumped and my eyes widened. His eyes looked scary. I was scared.

"I'm sorry," he whispered, then he ran inside.

"Will!" I screamed after him. But he didn't stop. My heart was beating fast. And I felt alone. So I started walking towards Eric's house.

Four hours later...

I ended the sleepover at Eric's house early. I didn't feel like having fun anymore. I decided to walk home to think. I was walking down the street when a hand covered my mouth. I screamed.

"It's me," Will's voice whispered. I pulled his hand away and turned around.

"What the hell?" I screamed.

"I wanted to say sorry for what happened before," he said.

"What exactly did happen? With you I mean," I said. He glanced down at my shoes."You can tell me. Obviously, I'm not scared of you if I'm still here".

"I just get angry sometimes that's it," he shrugged. A car beeped behind him. I glanced in. It was Katy! He followed my eyes.

"So you just followed me to make fun of me with your girlfriend?" I asked.

"No, it's not that," he said.

"If you want to be with Katy then be with her! I don't care! But don't make me look like a pathetic loser in front of her!" I yelled.

"You have a boyfriend! Why do you care?" he shouted back. I stopped for a second.

"Because thats what a friend does they care. They look out for each other. But you... you're not my friend. Your a snobby rich boy," I stated, and I walked away. Okay, I didn't walk. I ran.  Walking would just make things worse.

Such a short chapter. I know. But next chapter will be the best. Well, I personally think. A lot of drama goes down at the Valentine's day dance.
