mackenzie stood outside the orlando residence. she was extremely nervous. it was the day she was having dinner with johnny and his family.

"hi," a middle aged woman opened the door, "you must be mackenzie?" the woman asked.

"y-yeah," mackenzie put her hand out, "you must be mrs orlando." mackenzie smiled.

"yeah, you can call me merideth," merideth smiled at her, "come in." mackenzie walked into the house.

"mom, i can't find my white vans, have you seen them?" lauren walked down the stairs.

"no, i haven't seen them, and lauren, can you please greet our guest?" merideth asked her daughter.

lauren blinked a few times in disbelief.

"mother, why is she here?" lauren asked in annoyance.

"johnny invited her, now be nice, dinner should be ready in a few minutes." merideth smiled and walked into the kitchen.

lauren and mackenzie stood there awkwardly.

"so..." mackenzie trailed off looking around the house.

"are you and johnny dating?" lauren asked bluntly.

mackenzie was taken back a bit by the question.

"no. johnny and i are just friends." mackenzie smiled.

lauren walked up to mackenzie's face.

"friends my ass." lauren turned around and walked back upstairs.

mackenzie sighed. her phone began to ring.

it was brynn. she answered it.

"kenzieee!" brynn shouted into the speaker.

"yes?" mackenzie asked.

"w-wait, where are you?" brynn asked looking at the background behind her.

"uh," mackenzie thought for a minute, "my aunt's house." mackenzie lied.

"it looks a lot like johnny's house. it even has the same picture frames and everything." brynn furrowed her eyebrows.

"i wouldn't know, i've never been to johnny's house. is there a reason you called?" mackenzie spoke quickly.

"yeah, annie, darius, hayden, and i were going to go watch lion king. do you want to come?" brynn asked.

"oh. i can't. it's sunday, so it's family dinner. and i'm just very uh, busy." mackenzie smiled.

brynn nodded, "i guess i'll catch you next time."

"dinner's ready!" merideth yelled out.

"is that merideth orlando?" brynn asked.

"w-what? bad connection. i can't hear you." mackenzie quickly hung the phone up.

lauren stared at her from the stairs.

"johnny's not even here." lauren told her.

"he's not? where is he?" mackenzie asked.

"beats me. seems to me, you're just like all the other girls johnny brings over." lauren smiled.

"...and what does that mean?" mackenzie folded her arms.

"stay a little longer and you'll see." lauren walked to the table.

butterflies began to form in mackenzie's stomach.

"who are you?" a blonde girl walked down the stairs.

mackenzie didn't answer.

"wait, do you have a sister?" the girl asked.

mackenzie nodded.

"oh my gosh! i go to school with her. her name's  maddie, right?" the girl asked.

"yeah." mackenzie chuckled.

"she's a bitch." the laughter died down.

mackenzie was caught off guard by the statement.

"let's hope the apple doesn't fall to far from the tree." the girl walked off.

"this is going to be a long night." mackenzie fixed her hair and walked to the table.
