it was the fourth football game of the school year. seven oaks vs crystal lakes.
the cheerleaders on both sides cheering, along with the fans cheering as well.
"do you see nadia? or lauren? or-." mackenzie was cut off by one of the other cheerleaders.
"what're you doing?" lexi jayde asked her.
mackenzie was startled, but fixed herself.
"i- i'm looking for some of my," mackenzie looked for a word, "friends." she smiled.
"well, we're all over here. and last time i checked," lexi tapped her index finger on her chin, "there are no cheerleaders on this team named nadia or lauren." lexi tilted her head to the side.
"actually, they're from crystal lakes." mackenzie smiled.
lexi gasped at her statement.
"you're friends with the enemy? are you high?" lexi asked in disgust.
mackenzie scrunched up her face at the comment.
"you hate them, remember?" lexi asked her.
mackenzie fiddled with her hair, "they're not that bad, honestly." mackenzie said reassuringly.
lexi rolled her eyes. she was about to walk away, until she remembered something.
"the conversation we had yesterday," lexi turned around to face mackenzie.
"what about it?" mackenzie asked.
"you were going on and on about how cute the boys from crystal lakes were." lexi air quitter the word cute.
"yeah, so?" mackenzie said confused.
"so, which one is it?" lexi turned towards the field.
"w- what are you talking about?" mackenzie asked confused.
"the one that you like, is it number eleven?" lexi asked.
"what, no. i don't like any of the crystal lake boys. i just think they're cute," mackenzie stick her finger up, "there's a difference." she smiled.
"number twenty seven?" lexi looked at her.
mackenzie rolled her eyes at the brunette.
"lexi just drop it." annie said in annoyance.
"i will drop it, once kenzie tells me who's the unlucky guy." lexi smiled.
mackenzie gave her a smile in annoyance, "lexi, why don't you just fuck off. it doesn't matter."
"fine. i'll find out sooner later. you can't hide him forever." and with that lexi sashayed away.
brynn groaned, "you can't hide him forever." she mocked.
"lexi's so nosey, i don't even think she realizes it." annie said annoyed.
"no no, she realizes it." mackenzie folded her arms.
the three girls began to laugh.
"so," brynn looked at mackenzie, "are you and johnny good?"
mackenzie shook her head.
"what? why?" annie asked.
mackenzie scoffed, "didn't you guys tell me not to get involved with him in the first place? well, i'm not involved with him anymore, shouldn't you guys be happy?"
"are you only doing all this because we told you not to?" brynn asked her.
"no," mackenzie sighed, "also, because, he showed his true colors on sunday when he decided to invite me to dinner and then forget. i'm done with johnny's bullshit. and i'm done caring about every little thing he does."
annie gave her a sad look, "kenz, give the guy another chance."
"why? johnny couldn't care less about me, he's proven that." mackenzie said trying not to sound as sad as she really was.
"kenz, deep deep deep deep down, johnny's a good guy. i mean, he did keep my secret about being bi. most people would've told someone, johnny didn't." brynn put her hand on mackenzie's shoulder.
mackenzie looked at her two friends and gave them a small smile.
"also, johnny makes you really happy. your eyes light up every time someone brings him up." annie nudged mackenzie's shoulder.
"guys, i don't know." mackenzie shrugged.
"please mackenzie, i need jenzie to be real!" brynn begged.
"what the fuck is a jenzie?" mackenzie asked confused.
"jenzie?" brynn looked at annie.
annie had no clue what brynn was talking about.
"johnny + kenzie = jenzie." brynn said clapping her hands together.
"oh, that's cute!" "that sounds like a disease." annie and mackenzie said at the same time.
the three girls laughed.
"so, are you going to try again with him?" annie asked hopeful.
"mm, how about this," mackenzie grabbed annie's hand, "i'll give johnny a chance if you give asher a chance."
"deal!" annie shouted happily.
