Pauls pov

Steph and I walked into the room and Heidi's jaw dropped

“Really you brought her here?!” she bellowed

I heard Julie and Candy sigh

“Mom she has the right, Steph is married to Paul and well Paul is Braydens dad.” Candy said annoyed putting her finger to her temple

Heidi opened up her mouth as she was about to say something but apparently she thought better of it.

“May I hold him?” Steph asked

“No” Heidi said just as I said “yes”

“Go ahead” Candy said “besides you are her step mom after all”

I felt the tension.

“So I know this is not the appropriate time but even though I am not happy that you two slept together, you two brought a beautiful baby into the world.” Steph said looking from me to Heidi “now how exactly are we going to go about this? Taking care of him I mean?”

Candys pov

I am pretty sure I just saw moms head do the whole exorcism thing like it went all the way around.

“I think what should happen is Paul takes him” I said “I mean you wanted to give him to me anyways so just give the dad the chance”

“No I will never see him” whined mom

“Mom let me set this straight. You would have more of a chance to see him with Paul then you ever would with me. You and I don't have the best relationship and I personally think you and your damn personalities are shitty parents. So here is the deal you figure out your shit but I am going to go and tell the nurse to not let you leave this hospital until you sign custody papers and let them know that you're a little crazy and have no right taking care of this child” I ranted “so that is your choice”

“You wouldn't” mom said 

Haha she underestimates me once again

“Candy just calm down” dad said

I hear Julie snicker, I quickly looked at her and she stopped right away

“I give you a count of 3 and I will get up and I will go and talk to the nurses.” I warned “you of all people should know not to underestimate me”

She glared at me

“Wait, back up I think I am finally catching on...we are taking the child?” Steph asked looking over at Paul

Apparently Paul didn't say anything to Steph about taking Brayden

“Remember I said have you help me raise him” I heard Paul mutter.

I gave Paul the are you serious look and he shrugged 

“I thought we were on the same page” Paul said

“Yeah I didn't real...you know something either way I would love for him to be in our household.” Steph said putting a smile on her face. I couldn't tell if it was forced or not

“Heidi you know just as well as I do...you aren't cut out to take care of him” Julie said

“At least with Paul and Steph you will be able to see him and you know he will be taken care of” Dad said

“You can see him whenever you want” Paul said 

I bit my tongue and I heard her sigh

“I am not giving up my rights just so you know” She said through her teeth

“I'm not saying you have too...I just want custody of him” Paul said handing Brayden over to Julie was doing the -give me- motion

“And even though my daughter is pissing me off right now...she has to have a relationship with him. Be apart of his life, seeing him whenever she wants and being their for his firsts and everything” 

I was in actual shock she even thought of me to be honest

“I already talked to her about this and she can be there all she wants” Paul said putting his arm around my shoulders

“That's all I am saying” mom said with a shrug

Is she seriously agreeing to this? Hmm to easy…

“Alright Heidi...tooo easy” julie said 

Obviously she caught on

“Nothing” mom said...to innocently sounding

“Alright even I can tell that you're up to something” Dad said crossing his arms

“I am up to nothing. I just want to feel like I am part of his life” mom said “I want pictures, to be able to see him whenever I want, I want him to know I am...mom”

Paul nodded but I could even see the concern that ran across Steph's face but apparently mom didn't see it. I looked at Julie who was slowly shaking her head.

“Alright” Paul said and then called someone. 

I am assuming his lawyer and the only reason I said that was because about 10 minutes later in came another guy, all professional like with a suitcase and all. 

“Heidi, this is my lawyer Morgan”

I could see panic run across her face and this is not going to end well. I waited for it. Apparently Julie did too because she came over and sat next to me with Brayden. It got quiet like you could hear a pin drop. 

“Really I can't even get out of the hospital before this shit happens?” Mom said

“Paul explained the situation and I think it's best to do it before you leave. Cant have any...unexpected situations...arise before that” Morgan said eyeing her.

Haha he didn't even trust her. I felt Julie nudge me. I looked at her and I could see the enjoyment in her eyes. I snickered. Both Morgan and mom looked at me

“Sorry was trying to make that sneeze silent” I said scratching the back of my neck. Morgan nodded but mom glared.

Morgan pulled out papers and put them on the little bedside table thing there. Mom looked at them

“What exactly is this?” she asked looking down at the papers

“Custody papers saying that Paul has full custody of Brayden and that you can't just rip him out of their home without going to court and showing that him and Stephanie are unfit parents” Morgan said “pretty much summing it up”

“I'm not signing over my rights” mom said once again

“Oh those are different papers as I said these particular papers are custody papers. See it's that word right there on the top of the paper. It starts with the letter ‘C’” Morgan said pointing to it

Julie and I chuckled and again got looks

“Sorry there was a tickle in the back of the throat” Julie said

“Yeah if you guys are sneezing and got a tickle in the back of the throat, you two probably shouldn't be holding Brayden” Morgan said looking between the both of us 

We nodded and quickly stopped. Morgan went back to mom who was then reading through them. I heard her sigh

“Mother just sign the papers” I said with a frustrated sigh as Morgan gave her a pen

Mom looked over at the three of us and then signed them.

"Hes yours" Julie and I said hugging him and Steph

"Which also makes you and Julie apart of our family" Steph said hugging the both of us
