It was freezing on Saturday morning, mom said the heater was broken but I suspected she couldn't afford the added bill. I swore I wasn't cold and layered up with a long-sleeve shirt under my sweatshirt.
I never heard the doorbell ring, mom must have been staring out the window. I just heard her greeting him enthusiastically.
"Bless you, Adam!" she said referring to the coffee he'd brought. I saw them on their way to the kitchen and followed along. He set the drink holder on the counter.
He handed Mom's to her first, such a gentleman. I took mine, grazing his hand more than necessary. He raised his eyebrows in recognition but wouldn't do more in front of Mom. Something ached in my stomach, I wanted his attention. I needed it.
"Hungry?" Mom asked. "I can whip up pancakes pretty quickly." She was wizzing around the house getting ready. Pinning her hair up on the bathroom, rummaging through her drawer for a scarf in her room.
"I miss you," I whispered and caressed his shoulder. I tilted my head down and looked up at him through my eyelashes. I knew that turned him on, did he not think I knew that?
"Chanel, stop." There was a whine to his voice. I put my arms around his waist and kneaded my hands into his back.
"I want a kiss." My lips were touching his as I whispered.
"Don't do this right now or I'll get you back later."
"How?" I asked playfully. I bounced against him, hugging tighter. He pulled me in, my head rested against his chest.
"You two are so cute," Mom was buzzing by finding her shoes.
"I want you," I mouthed to him. His eyes narrowed, he was suffering just like I was. Good.
"I'm going to get you alone later and torture you for this." His mouth was against my ear.
"Okay, you guys ready?" Mom asked.
He held his arm out, elbow bent to escort me like a Victorian era suitor.
"You two are so cute!"
"You said that already, mom."
"I think Chanel's cute," he said shyly.
"Breaker!" I blushed.
"What's that?" Mom asked.
"Most people call me by my last name."
"Well I don't know any Breaker, I know Adam and I like him very much," Mom said.
"I like them both," I said. I squeezed his arm.

When we arrived at the mission, we parked in the same area. I watched Breaker's eyes and mood. I hadn't asked him if he was concerned about seeing his dad. I couldn't imagine, all I could do was keep his mind off of it.
Shake Shake greeted us when we entered, "There's those pretty girls!"
"Hi," we said.
"You with them, player?"
"This is Adam," Mom said.
