That late night, I was sleeping in bed when I suddenly heard my mom's voice, calling for me, in my dreams. In my dreams, I woke up and I was in a sky filled with clouds and mist. I was confused and not knowing what's going on.
Then, I heard her. "Apple...", she sighed. I turned around and there she was, my mother, standing there. "Apple...", she sighed. "Mom?", I asked. "Yes, my darling. It's me.", she smiled. I walked up to her and hugged her.
"My baby girl.", she cried. I then started crying. "Honey, what's wrong?", Mom asked. "It's Dad.", I cried. "What about him?", Mom asked. "He's hurt.", I cried. "How? Did something happen?", Mom asked. "No, I meant, I hurt him, like I snapped at him.", I cried.
'Oh, Apple...", Mom sighed. "Oh, Mom. I really hurt him, big time.", I cried. "Ok, sweetheart. Calm down. You can fix this.", Mom replied. "How? It's too late.", I cried.
"No, it's never too late. The best thing you can do is to apologise to your father, he'll understand and he'll forgive you.", Mom replied. "How do you know?", I asked. "Apple, your father loves you more than anything in the world, and he'll always be there by your side...always.", Mom sighed.
The next day, I woke up and remembered what my mom said in my dreams, and she was right. I had to apologise to my dad. I came downstairs as Dad was making eggs for breakfast. "Hey, sweetheart. How do you like your eggs?", Dad asked.
"Scrambled please, with 2 pieces of buttered toast.", I replied. "Coming right up!", Dad replied, as he makes my breakfast. I was on my phone and pouring myself some orange juice in my glass. "Hey, Dad?", I asked.
"Yeah?", he asked. "I owe you an apology.", I replied. "What?", he asked. I walk up to Dad and held both of his hands. "Dad, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have been so mad at you last night. I know you're sorry for what happened between us and Mom.", I sighed.
"Apple, listen to me.", Dad replied, I listened and looked at him. "You have nothing to be sorry for. I know you didn't mean to yell at me. I understand how you feel about it, I get it. But it doesn't mean that I'm no longer your father. You are the light of my life and you will always be my little girl. Come here.", Dad sighed, as he pulls me in for a hug.
I hugged him tight and I started crying. Dad kisses my head and sighs. "I love you, baby girl.", he sighed. "I love you too.", I cried. "You're alright, Apple. I got you.", Dad sighed. Dad and I start our day together with breakfast and then he takes me around Dublin.
"Dad?", I asked. "Yes, sweetheart?", he asked. "Do you know any good grocery stores?", I asked. "Yes of course. Follow me.", Dad replied, offering me his arm to link. Of course, I link my arm around his and we walked together.
We then arrive to the best grocery store of Dublin. "Here we are. So, what are we doing here?", Dad asked. "I need some grocery to cook dinner tonight.", I smiled, as I walked inside. "Wait, what?", Dad cried, as he follows me.
I grabbed a basket and start grabbing the ingredients for my mom's homemade cottage pie. "Wait, slow down. You're cooking?", Dad asked. "Yes, you have to try my cooking. I've been cooking since I was 8.", I replied.
I walked around the store and bought all the ingredients that I need for a cottage pie; minced beef, onions, peas, carrots, celery, potatoes, cheese and gravy granules. I then paid for the groceries and Dad was stunned to see how much I bought.
"Apple, you don't have to do that.", Dad replied. "Do what?", I asked. "You know, cook for me.", Dad replied. "Well, last night, I disrespected you and I want to give you something back", I sighed. That night, we got home and I started chopping and cooking the vegetables.
Dad gave me a helping hand, by peeling the potatoes. "So what are you cooking?", Dad asked. "Homemade cottage pie.", I replied. Dad paused when he heard it. "It is your mother's?", Dad asked.
"Yes.", I replied. I knew I would make it for him because Dad loves my Mom's homemade cottage pie and she would make it for him every week. "So, your mother taught you how to cook?", Dad asked. "She did.", I replied. I resume cooking and later baked it.
I serve it up for Dad and let him taste it first. Dad took a bite out of the pie and examine the flavours. "So?", I asked. "It's really good. It's just like your mother's.", Dad sighed. I smiled as I was happy that he liked it.
That night, Dad and I were looking through old family photo albums and it's filled with wonderful memories. Then I saw one photo of my parents with me after I was born. "Was that...?", I asked.
"Yes, Apple. This was taken on the day you were born.", Dad smiled. "It was the best day for both of you wasn't it?", I asked. "Better than that. It was the happiest day of our lives, until that fateful night when I lost it...", Dad replied, as he began to have flashbacks of the past and the night he hit Mom.
I looked at him as tears come down from his eyes. I comfort him by holding his hands. "Dad, no matter where I go, no matter where I am, no matter where I live, I'll always be here for you and I'll always be your little girl.", I sighed, as I hugged him.
Dad's heart melted by my words and he started crying, while hugging me in his arms. "I love you, Dad.", I whispered, with a sigh, while my face was buried in his chest. "I love you too, baby girl", Dad sighed, as he kisses my head.
