He slowly kept walking up the stairs. He pushed open the stairway door and walked through the hallway. He kept running his fingers through his hair, he was a nervous wreck. Then, he saw it.
ROOM 505
He held his breath and gently pushed the key in. He let out a long breath. He really needed a cigarette. The lock clicked and he slowly opened the door. He thought about all the times he had opened that door.
He closed it and walked through an empty living room and kitchen. No lights were on. Even though he had no hope, he walked into the bedroom at the very back. It was his last chance. If she wasn't there what would he do?
He entered the bedroom cautiously. There she was, his everything. His eyes widened with joy, but they sunk again when he remembered he had broken it off. How was he such a fool?
She turned over on her side to look at the dark figure in the room. Her eyes were red and puffy and she was on the bed, curled up in a ball. Her trembling fingers rested on her inner thigh. She sighed. She remembered the times when she would lie on her side and smile at him. She knew her smile made him go mad.
"I didn't think you would come, I thought I was crazy," she said through sniffles. Alex's heart snapped. He threw off his leather jacket and crawled on the bed with her. He laid on his back and kept his distance, but his cheeks were flustered by her just looking at him.
"I ran away from my bandmates and took a 7-hour plane to get here to ya. The whole 6 months I was imagining this moment." He told the truth to her, for the first time in a while.
"I was going to leave tomorrow, I even wrote this bloody note." She reached from under her leg and handed him a lightly tear-soaked piece of paper.
Goodbye Alex
I know I was never good enough for you, but I thought maybe you'd forget how horrible I was to you for a minute and come home.

He started to cry as he read and then realized she would have slept here cold and alone if he hadn't caught that flight. He started shaking and bit his lip to stop from sobbing. Of course, she was right next to him, so she saw everything. Her lips began to quiver.
"Ya were my everythin', in fact, ya still are my everythin'," he said as his throat began to burn.
"But I never gave you enough, you deserve the world, Alex," she said quietly. He shook his head roughly.
"Can I please hold you, I regret everything I said that night," he said and begged for her to say yes.
"I regret everything I said too, and all those nights before it!" She sobbed. She hid her face in her hands, but Alex quickly pulled her close to his chest.
"Let's go back then aye? Back to before all those nights. Let's go back," he said as he listened to rain begin to tap at the window.
