Benji's P.O.V.
It was only the first day of Jorge and I meeting up for lunch and I'm already running late. We planned to meet at the school at 12 and it's 12 now and I'm still finishing getting dressed.
hey sorry im running a little late. i wasnt paying any attention to what time it was and just realized its already 12.
I sent that to Jey hoping he wouldn't hate me for this. I mean if he hated me for this then that would be kind of sad, because there's so many other things he could hate me for. My phone vibrates and I knew it was Jey so instead of responding I quickly get dressed and run downstairs to leave.
"MOM I'M HEADING OUT TO LUNCH, I'LL BE BACK IN A FEW HOURS!" I yell to her and try and get out of the house as fast as I can so that she doesn't ask any questions. She already thinks I have a crush on Jey, but I promise I don't.
"Hey, I am so sorry about being late, as I said in the text I was not paying any attention to the time." Of course the first thing I said to him was basically what I texted, as if he didn't see the text
"Está bien, sólo estaba esperando un par de minutos porque estaba llegando un poco tarde, así." (It's fine, I was only waiting for a couple minutes because I was running a little late as well.) It made me feel better that I wasn't the only one having issues today.
We start walking to lunch and I realized that I have no idea where we're going. I decided against asking because I didn't want to ruin the comfortable silence we were having right now. After a few minutes of walking Jey stops in front of a cozy looking cafe. After we order and sit down we get to business on why this whole lunch happened.
"debemos jugar 20 preguntas por hoy, pero sólo tienen las preguntas que obtendrán una respuesta básica. Y luego cada día después de hoy vamos un poco más en profundidad con un par de respuestas al día." (We should play 20 questions for today, but only have the questions be ones that will get basic response. And then each day after today we go a little more in depth with a couple answers a day.) Why is he so good at coming up with these things, like he made it into a game which makes things a lot more fun.
"Okay, um, first question. What is your favorite movie?"
"Coco, y tu" (Coco, and you)
"I've never seen Coco, but my favorite movie is 21 Jump Street, also your turn."
"Cual es tu color favorito?" (What is your favorite color)
"Green, but not like bright green, more of a forest green. What about you?"
"Amarillo." (Yellow)
We do that until we get to 20 questions, all of it is basic stuff that most people probably don't even really know about the friends they've had for years, which is interesting to me.
Time skip to the next day at lunch just because I don't feel like writing about them going back to the school and stuff.
I am not running late today which is a good thing, but I notice Jorge is, because I get to the school at 12:01 and he is nowhere to be seen, but I guess it's pay back for yesterday. As I'm thinking about what kind of food I'm in the mood for Jey shows up looking upset.
"Hey, you good?" If it was any other person I probably wouldn't have said anything because I don't like people asking me if I'm okay when obviously I'm not, but with Jey ever since he told me about what happened when he went home the day we met I worry.
"Sí, sólo mi mamá es molesta"(Yeah, just my mom being annoying) I knew there was more to it than just that, but I didn't want to intrude and obviously if he didn't want to tell me right away then there was no point in trying too hard to know.
"Okay, well um I think today we should go to a place that has kebabs." Jey starts to think after I said that and then like five seconds later he grabs my arm and off we go. Like yesterday the walk is quiet, I'm starting to think quiet walks is going to become a thing for us. After like 10 minutes of walking we arrive at a place that has food that I can smell from the outside. My stomach starts growling and only then did I realize how hungry I actually was. Just like yesterday after we got our food, we sat down and started to talk.
"So since we don't want to be here for like five hours, let's just explain our answers and maybe talk more about them for two questions a day just so that by the time school starts we basically know each others whole life story." I hoped he didn't take the first part the wrong way, it wasn't that I didn't want to spend time with him, it's just that I don't like being at restaurants for too long.
"Bien, así que la primera pregunta fue sobre nuestras películas favoritas. Dijiste 21 Jump Street, ¿por qué es tu película favorita?"(Okay, so the first question was about our favorite movies. You said 21 Jump Street, why is that your favorite movie?"
"I'm not really sure, I guess I'm just into comedies. I prefer movies that I can just watch without having to worry about them stressing me out. Why is Coco your favorite movie?"
"Me gusta que a pesar de que es una película para niños todavía hay una buena historia y es sólo una buena película."(I like that even though it's a children's movie there's still a good story line, and it's just a good movie.)
"Are there any movies coming out soon that you want to go see? Personally I'm really excited for IT Chapter Two" Jey looks at me kind of in shock, and I'm scared he's going to think I'm lame for liking IT.
"Dios mío, sólo estaba enviando mensajes de texto a mis amigos sobre cómo tenemos que ir a verlo el día que sale."(Oh my go, I was just texting my friends about how we have to go see it the night it comes out.)
"Well, I guess I'll just have to intrude on your group hangout because I have to see it and I already got myself a ticket for it" We were so busy talking about theories for the movie and everything that we completely forgot to talk about the second question, or even leave within a couple hours of being there, but to be completely honest I didn't really mind.

I am so sorry for not posting a chapter in 2 weeks, I've been very unmotivated and just not in the right head space. But thank you so much for 500 reads like holy shit, last time I posted I was at 300 so that's insane. Speaking of IT Chapter Two, I'm genuinely so excited for it to come out, if Reddie isn't endgame then I'm going to look like such a clown. Also school starts in a week and a half so my hope is to be able to post 3 times before school starts because once it does, then I am barely going to have time to post. Once again thank you for 500 reads and I am so sorry for not posting in what feels like years.
