It was the beginning of 8th grade. I moved to my locker slowly, wondering what this year would bring. I was in 8th grade now. Too small to be big, but too big to be small. I was in between.
As I got to my locker I noticed that there was a new girl. Her locker was right next to mine. She was beautiful in a sad, worn sort of way. Long brown hair, sad brown eyes. She was thin, tall, and silent. I had to say hello.
"Hey." I said to her, big smile on my face.
"Hey" she said responded, with a faint, faked smile. "I'm Katelyn, I guess we're locker buddies!"
"Yeah!" I said, as I struggled to open my locker. I was always such a klutz with that.
"So what classes do you have?" She asked me. We went over our classes and teachers, I gave her the basic gossip on students, and the teachers to avoid. She told me that all that she wanted was to be popular. Whatever the cost. I told her that I wanted to be free, and I didn't care where that took me. She said that we would be friends forever.
