Once Upon A Time...
...there was a beautiful 16-year-old girl named Tara Perkins. Tara was from Kansas, and she lived in Hollywood with her parents Kerry and Michael. Tara thought she was lucky because she had a great home and great parents—but she didn't seem to like high school as much as she did in Kansas.
Tara was recently enrolled to Briarwood High School, and her new classmates seemed to find her very odd because she was completely different—although Tara's outstandingly beautiful personality really didn't bother her teachers. Tara usually liked reading books or drawing pictures, and she wore blue and purple while her peers mostly wore warm, earthly colors. Despite thinking Tara is very odd, her peers thought she was the most beautiful girl in school—even the popular girls agreed that Tara had beat them in their own game much to their dismay.
Tara even attracted the attention of Gaston Legume, the most handsome jock in Briarwood. There was another thing that made Tara different from everybody else—she didn't like Gaston because she found him rude, conceited, arrogant, narcissistic...Tara thought she deserved better than Gaston.
Tara didn't like the fact that her peers thought she was weird just because she was different, and she wanted to be accepted for who she really is. One day, when Tara took the stage, that desire was granted.
Another high school day was over, and Tara was reading a new book. Many high school kids saw her walking down the hall with her nose buried in her book, and her two new friends Dodie and Macy were with her.
"High school was easier when I lived in Kansas," said Tara. "Why can't everybody accept me for who I am? Is it because they think I'm not who I appear to be?"
"They're just not used to people who are different," said Dodie. "Before you know it, Tara, they'll get used to you." Tara really hoped Dodie was right.
Meanwhile, Gaston and his buddies were on the football field, playing football.
"You didn't miss a single catch, Gaston," said Desmond. "You're the best football player in the whole world."
"I know," said Gaston proudly.
"No other football player can ever stand a chance against you," said Cosmo.
"And no girl for that matter," agreed Francis.
"Yes, that's absolutely true, my fine lads," said Gaston, "and I've got my sight set on that one right over there." Gaston pointed to Tara much to his friends' shock.
"The new girl?" asked Cosmo.
"She's the one! The lucky girl I'm going to date," said Gaston.
"But she's..." Francis began.
"The most beautiful girl in school," said Gaston. "That makes her the best."
As Gaston was going over to Tara, the two popular girls—Amber Shay and Hildegard Parker—watched in awe. The two girls wore matching outfits in different colors. Amber wore pink, and Hildegard wore green. They both liked Gaston very much, and they wanted to date him very badly—too bad he only has his sight on Tara.
While Tara was reading her book, Gaston jumped in front of her. "Hello, Tara," he said.
"Hey, Gaston," said Tara. Before she knew it, Gaston dropped his football and took her book right out of her hands.
