"Thank God you have bio with me." I tilted my head back in relief before looking over to Wyatt as we walked through the crowded hallways. People still gave the occasional curious stares but I felt more comfortable with it with Wyatt by my side.

He smiled at me, popping the last of his grapes from lunch into his mouth before speaking with a muffle, "Yeah, dude. But we've already been assigned lab partners so you're probably gonna get stuck with that weird kid, Jasper."

My head turned at the sound of his name, becoming intrigued almost instantly, "You think so?"

Wyatt furrowed his brows, looking at me as if I had two heads, "You want to get paired with that guy?" He shook his head, swaying his dirty blonde hair as he scoffed, "He always has this look on his face.. like he just got stabbed." He paused, "Or he wants to stab you."

I couldn't help but let a laugh slip, nudging Wyatt's arm as he shrugged innocently. "I don't know, Wyatt. He's probably got a cool story. Their whole family, I bet." I rose my eyebrows, glancing at him.

Wyatt stopped at the door once we reached the classroom, turning to me, "Yeah? Well whatever it is, I'm staying far, far, away." He said before walking into the classroom as I shook my head with a small giggle.

As soon as I had walked in, the bell rang and Wyatt had already sat down in his seat next to his partner. I glanced around the classroom, finding that Wyatt was telling the truth in the hallway. In the back sat Jasper Hale with an empty seat next to him making me satisfied for some reason.

Before I could let my thoughts consume me, the teacher noticed my presence, giving a small smile, "Ah, yes. Our new student, Margaret Benson. I'm Mr. Molina." He turned around, grabbing a textbook before handing it to me, "Here you are. And there's an empty seat in the back for you next to Mr. Hale." He pointed over to the seat next to Jasper, just as Wyatt had predicted.

The pale-skinned boy merely glanced at me, his eyes widening in the slightest as I walked down the row of desks, heading toward the seat beside him. He looked away quickly, staring down at the blank desk in front of him.

I paused my movements momentarily, looking over to Wyatt who sat two rows across from where I would be, watching the encounter with a stifled laugh, mouthing the words 'good luck.'

I rolled my eyes, before sitting down next to Jasper who had barely acknowledged my existence. I wasn't hurt by it, though. In fact, I was eager to get to know him.

"Alright, guys, so today we are going to be observing the behavior of planaria. Aka, flatworms." The teacher informed, walking around the room and distributing two small glass containers.

I drowned out the voice of the teacher, however, turning to Jasper, "Hi." I began causing him to look over to me, "I'm Margot."

His face wasn't very expressive but he responded with the basic manners you'd give to anybody you first meet, "I'm Jasper." Once he spoke, I noticed he had a faint southern accent that made me smile. He paused for a moment as he inhaled deeply, furrowing his brows and turning to me, "Where are you from?" His dark eyes met mine.
