Eliana Valerie.
That's the name of that beautiful girl who Rosalia always think is actually an angel who's trapped in this earth.
She remembered that one time she and her friends were cheering for their friend from their seats, in a 200 metres sprint event.
"Come on Natalie, you can do this. Sprint all the way to our hearts like you usually do. Go champion!", cheered all of them from afar.
When the whistle being blown, their cheers were even louder as Natalie sprinted her way to the finishing line. That's the first time Rosalia saw that angel running so fast yet still so elegant while doing so. Tying her hair up in a ponytail with her cotton sports shirt and three quarter sports shorts, Rosalia seems to forget all the cheering syllabus she learned together with her friends everytime any of them need the cheering. She just can't take her eyes off of that said angel.
"Woahhh...", whispered Rosalia.
"Hey Ralph, what's wrong with you? Why are you being so quiet? You know that your voice is the loudest right? So come one let's continue our cheers so that Nat will feel even more energized.", her friend Suzannah lightly scolded her from besides.
"Ohhh yeahhh of course. Sorry."
They continued giving their most supportive measurements but unfortunately Natalie just won the second place. Few seconds closed behind that lightning angel she can't take her eyes off before.
"Well this is weird. What is this feeling? I actually feel so happy that she won eventhough it means my best friend lose to her. But in a secret, don't tell my friends okay.", monologue Rosalia or known as Ralph among her friends, inside her head.
"Come on Ralph, let's go to meet Nat and praising her for all her hard works. She was so closed to win tho. But I can't deny the one who won was so fast as well. Damn why I don't have that kind of stamina....", Rosalia slowly followed her friends from behind to greet Natalie and never once she listen to whatever the hell she's talking about.
Once they spot Natalie from afar calming her breath down while slowly sipping her water from a bottle, Rosalia shouted excitedly to alert her friend, "Bitch!! You were so cool just now you know. I didn't even know you have that much stamina but damn girl! Congratulations eventhough you...", her sentences being cut short when she saw that Natalie was talking to that girl she can't take her eyes off just now.
"... didn't get the first place.", she finished her sentences slowly. A contrast from her shouting just now. She feels her face spontaneously warm due to her embarrassment. Or maybe just because of the weather. Must be the weather.
She watched the two of them just grinning at her while waving her and all other friends to come near. When she's just a few inches from them, she swore that girl just gave her a polite nod and smile softly before walking away.
"Dude you okay there?", Rosalia quickly recomposed herself from whatever haze she's in.
"Yeahh of course. Congratulations dude we are so proud of you.", all her other friends also simultaneously gave Natalie their praises that left Rosalia continue watching that girl and ignoring all the noises around.
"... but I know I won't stand a chance against her. She's the fastest in our university so it doesn't matter.", Rosalia quickly snapped her head towards her friends when she heard that particular subject being thrown out from their mouth.
"Uhhh who's she?", she tried to ask as casually she can.
"Ohhh that's Elin. You know? Eliana Valerie, our one year older than us senior? You didn't know her? Or heard anything about her before?", one of her other friend, Hilda asked her disbelievingly.
"Uhhh no? Should I?", and now she's genuinely confused. Should everyone know that girl? Yeah she knows that she called her an angel inside of her head, but that doesn't mean everyone should do the same too right.
Then she heard all of them are laughing at her confused face together. What happened? Did she just said something funny?
"Hellooo!! What happened? Why are you all laughing at me?"
Still recovered from their remaining laugh, Suzannah answered, "Nothing. We just can't believe that you're the only one here who doesn't know who she is."
"What's that supposed to mean?", now she's utterly confused, what's this all are about?
"She's the hottest girl in our university you know. A well-known sprinter and also the top student in her year. But she doesn't really mix around, always minding her own business. She scored top 1 every year and our doctors always praising her in the class. You should know that if you attend all the classes or at least didn't doze off everytime.", and now they're just teasing her.
"Well thanks for your insight. It's not my fault that all the lectures seems like lullaby to me. But I never fall asleep during our clinical study and you guys know it.", she said defensively but she's sure all of her friends know that she's joking.
"Yeahh yeahh we know that you're the best in handling any tools and hands-on procedures. That's why all the doctors still love you even some of them always complaining that your soul never exist during lectures."
"Well what can I say, I just have the charms.", she shrugged innocently. And then all of them just laughing loudly while walking their way out of the stadium track. They decided that they need to find some food for their stomach.
"So, Eliana Valerie. The hottest girl in my university and the smartest too. Guess she's way out of my league then."
Sigh.
