"What do you think?" She does a little twirl in front of the big mirror, fixing a few loose curls of her freshly dyed, strawberry blond hair.
She wore an outfit I never thought she would wear. It revealed way too much skin, her thin legs were exposed and the miniskirt, that hugged her waist tightly, barely reached her mid-thigh.
I sigh, "Ashley, I think this is completely unnecessary."
She turned around to face me, her cleavage catching my eye almost immediately. The crop top barely covered anything, it could fit on a ten year old. She huffs out an annoyed breath as her face falls.
"Emily, we've been outcasts since fucking kindergarten, this is our last year and I refuse to graduate as the biggest nerd at school." She scrunches her nose up in disgust just by the thought of it.
It never really bothered me that we were practically invisible at school, in fact I tried to draw the least amount of attention to myself. But for some reason, it has bothered Ashley for as long as I can remember.
I laugh humorlessly, "And you think changing your entire appearance will prevent that from happening? C'mon I chose to be your best friend for who you are. I don't want you to change." I nibbled at my bottom lip, sadly slumping my shoulders.
"Hold up now," she stops me, holding both my hands in hers, "who said anything about changing? A little glow up never hurt no one." I chuckle a little at that.
"I'm still gonna be me. Your best friend." She smiled reassuringly.
"Now let's go, I don't wanna be late to our first day as seniors!"
She grabs her car keys and flies out the door, shouting my name in the process, for me to hurry up.
I took a deep breath in. I couldn't shake off the feeling of worry, and I had no clue why.
I shook my head, clearing my thoughts once I hear her honking repeatedly from outside, and I walked my way towards her car.
