"Once upon a time, in a land far away. A human of only 17 decided they were ready to throw themselves off a freaking cliff. Will they do it? We will just have to wait an see."

The lined paper below our genderless protagonist is violently being eraser as their phone lights up with a cheerful ding.

"Work in an hour, how wonderful." They sarcastically remark throwing the phone back onto their bed.

"I still have two full books to read and write about before school begins again," pausing to count the days in there head the protagonist continues... "And school begins in a month. I love life don't you little kitty?"

A gray and white cat glances up from licking her butt to mutter a simple 'mew' before returning to the task.

"Good to know you understand me so well kitty." The main character, M.C. for short pats the small animal on the head and continues erasing their paper.

About an hour has passed, M.C. has gotten 6 whole chapters into one of their summer reading books and is now off to work. A part time, fast food job awaits, where too much is asked of you for minimum wage. And, where you can be sure to meet the most 'wonderful' people your town has to offer.

Doing what they always do, making sandwiches and burning the absolute spaghetti out of themself while trying to not to cry out in agony, M.C. finishes a productive day at work. And is now waiting on the sidewalk for their parents to get them.

Now, you may be asking, why does this 17 year old with a paying job not have a car?

And I answer "Ha you fools, they don't have a car or a license because drivers Ed is 300 f*cking dollars! And, their parents don't trust them enough behind the wheel to let them practice on their temps!"

Back to the story. M.C. is waiting on the curb, phone in hand. Opening Snapchat they see a familiar face pop up, a face they have conflicted feelings about."

This girl, Carina had been very flirty with M.C. they even dated for a little bit. But had broken up 2 days prior for reasons unknown. And, now they are on and off ignoring each other like petty little people do. M.C. was tired, emotional drained and just confused so they did it.

They texted back, "so what's with your broken heart stuff on your story?"

After a few seconds came the reply.
"You man,"

"Me? You're the one who broke us up!"~M.C

"Yeah, well you ignored me" ~C

"I figured you started dating that dude you were talking to."~M.C.

"Well, I don't need people like you."~C

"Really?"~M.C.

"Yeah, really"~C

"Fine then, bye"~M.C.

As your honest and understanding narrator I cut down the cringy, teenage love angst to give you the jist of the conversation.

Distraught and surprisingly sad M.C. continued to wait for their parents alone, blocking Carina on all forms of communication. Thought, M.C. would most definitely be thinking of Carina later, wondering what she was saying, wondering if she would apologize.

And again I save you the trouble and heartache of waiting. She won't

Slowly a familiar silver Kia pulls up infront of M.C. and takes them home, where a hot shower and sleep are waiting.
